Blush

T-shirt Extender

Mind the Gap?

Ah, low-rise jeans. So flattering, yet capable of causing pesky wardrobe malfunctions. If your shirt doesn't behave or you're naturally long-waisted, you've got to hike up your pants all day long to avoid a dreaded belly-baring episode.

Luckily there's a clever solution: the Blush Tee Shirt Extender (formerly known as The Topless Undershirt). Like a tube top you wear around the waist, it creates the look of an extra layer without the added bulk. Rachel Foulger, the owner of Blush Accessories, developed the Tee Shirt
Extender to creatively close the gap between the top of a pair of pants and the bottom of a shirt. The Blush undershirt has a comfortable smooth seam and unique tapered shape that stays put. It's a particularly great accessory during pregnancy, when it can be worn to extend your non-maternity wardrobe or offer more privacy while nursing. Genius!

Sheila Sommers, Daily Grommet community member, told us about the Blush shirt and how perfect it is for layering. “I bought some of these for my long-waisted body and am in love with the fact that I can wear them with a tank top, a dressy shirt, or a casual t-shirt. They stay put,” Sheila says.

Style, comfort, and no more drafts on the small of your back. What more could you ask for? Blush has you covered.

Good afternoon! If you love the look of layering without adding the extra bulk and straps, or if you want to avoid the classic "muffin top" problem that comes with low-rise pants, this is a product for you! Our Topless Undershirts actually fit around the lower half of your torso to add color -- or or to cover skin you don't think needs to see the light of day.

My partner and I created these to solve many of our wardrobe challenges, and I hope we can help you, too. I'm happy to be here today to read your comments and answer your questions about Blush Topless Undershirts. Enjoy!

Looks like a great product...I would definitely think about using same, especially in winter for an extra layer around lower back, but the pricing is a little high....I'd be hooked if they came on a multi-pack.

You know what I love about this...my thicker thighs benefit visually from a shirt that ends at the exact right spot. But finding a shirt that lands at that spot, or doesn't shrink after you buy it is impossible. I've never thought of attacking the problem from this direction!! Great product.

The price may SEEM high, but when you consider all the functions of the shirt it is actually very well priced. We have the lowest prices of this product on the market and we told ourselves in the beginning that we had to keep it low or we wouldn't market it. It is a USA made product with a delicate spandex blend and though a small product, quite unique and useful.

Multi packs will probably be available in the future, but not as of yet. Discounts can be found at various websites when you purchase more than one.

@Katie: I was referred to you years ago by my sister-in-law and bought 5 of these. They are great! Just wondering if you discontinued all the colors and lace? :( I'm nursing now and want one in every color of the rainbow to hide the after-baby-belly!

What a terrific idea! I'm tall, and I love to wear the new low-rise jeans -- but it can definitely be a problem sometimes! This looks like an interesting solution to try.

This is a great idea! I am surprised no one has mentioned the maternity use for this....you know, when you are still in your regular clothes but can't quite zip 'em all the way up? That's where I am now, so I'm going to buy a couple to extend the life of my "regular" wardrobe! Thanks!

I saw this grommet today and wanted to learn more from people who have tried it! Do they fit snug enough to keep your pants in place? I’m sick of pulling my jeans/pants up, and think this might be a good trick. Any personal reviews out there?

I L.O.V.E. the Blush!! I wore one almost every day of my last trimester when I was pregnant and found that it was VERY handy afterwards in hiding my flub-o-chubs after having a baby. I had my baby is the spring and wore one during the summer and found it was much cooler than wearing a full shirt under my clothes to add an extra layer and keep me modest while nursing. I can't say enough good things about it. I think it's priced just right, offers flexibility, and is a fabulous product. I've even wore it as a tube top to cover up the spot that was a bit too low on my shirt so I didn't show too much cleavage!! I think they are fabulous! :o)

@Liz. ... One of the reasons we fell in love with the Blush is because the fabric is a really snug fit. It’s not a belt, of course, but it has the feeling of wearing kind of a tight tank over your pants, which I happen to like – and you don’t see the seams, or bumps because it’s right up under your bra. Also, it didn’t ride up and down on me throughout the day, and because it’s quite long you get a lot more coverage.

But here's the real breakthrough idea I had. Last weekend, my husband was out in front of our house ... bending over doing yardwork and I was really wishing that someone would create a "Blush" for men. How about it Katie and Rachel??

You should make these for plus sized women that would be awesome! I am tall plus size and sometimes t shirts are short on me and this would be fantastic! 26/28 size if you make them in plus size I will be a true customer and tell others.

@Lisa: Same here! I'm a tall, plus 22/24. T-shirts are always way too short. This would be a complete life saver for all those too short t's. I echo, Lisa's comment. Please consider making these for plus sized as well!

@Lisa: Hi Lisa! Have you tried our large undershirt? With the spandex in these undershirts, there is a lot of give and they fit a wide range of people. I think you would fit our large. Bigger sizes are a good idea. We would love to carry an extra large in the future. Try a large! We have a great return policy if it doesnt fit :)

This sounds like a perfect solution for smoothing out those pesky muffin tops. I am wondering if it is snug enough ( like a girdle?) to really camouflage that problem area or is it really intended to bridge the gap between shirt and pant?

  • Rachel

    10/28/2010 6:03 PM

@Annie: Good question Annie! Our undershirts are made with a spandex blend and definitely help with a little support around the midriff while also adding some extra coverage. This will help flatten your stomach area and also help with the dreaded "muffin top" while still maintaining the comfort you need in a shirt to wear everyday. Give us a try!

    Great concept! Thanks.

@carol greene: The details for any feature can be found by clicking on the 'Details' tab just above the story on the main feature page. It's never a bad idea to have this information in two places so here is the sizing information:

Small fits sizes 0-6, waist: 23"-26"; hips: 33.5"-36.5"

Medium fits sizes 6-14, waist: 27"-31", hips: 37.5"-41.5"

Large fits sizes 14-22+, waist: 32.5"-40", hips: 43"-50"

If you're between sizes - order based on hip size

Seriously, wardrobe malfunctions? Too short of shirts??? While this is a great solution for some who are modest by nature, there are some of us like to see the "coin slot" or the "whale tail" Come on ladies, give us guys a break and let the pants / jeans slide. THe low rise jean was one of the best inventions (reinventions of the modern era!) XXOO... Seemore.

I'd like to understand how shipping and ordering work for this product and this company. I placed an order on 2/15 and my account was debited on 2/15 for my purchase, but when I check the order status (today 2/23) it still shows a status of "order processing". I have sent an email to lara@dailygrommet (this was the email listed on my paypal receipt) on 2/19 and have not received a reply. I have called the company Customer Support number at 877-862-0222, xt 210 and have left 2 messages (one on Monday 2/21 and again today 2/23) - no one seems to be there or is returning messages. This is my first order with Daily Grommet and I can assure you that this will be my last order and I will be sure to let all my family and friends and my facebook friends now how poor the Customer Service is. I would NOT recommend this site to ANYONE and I live in MA so I don't understand why this is taking so long for the order to arrive. This is TERRIBLE customer service and if this is how you handle your orders I don't think you will be in business for very long.
