ChappyWrap

Specialty Blankets

A Lifetime of Coziness

Today’s Grommet comes with a warning: One snuggle and you’ll be hooked. This cozy woven blanket will quickly become the one everyone in the family tries to grab, whether you’re tailgating, watching the sun set on a crisp autumn night, or just curling up on the couch.

That was the goal of Beth Haller LaSala, who had fond memories of her own go-everywhere blanket and enlisted the help of Monica Shelton Reusch to create a timeless replacement, called ChappyWrap. The two friends found a manufacturer in Germany with a
special Jacquard loom. Their designs are woven into the material – not printed on the fabric -- and the colors reverse for a double sided design. After each blanket comes off the loom, it goes through a series of napping machines (at least 10 times, Monica says) that fluff up and shear down the surface until the perfect texture is achieved. This special finishing process creates a soft, brushed finish that won’t pill. It’s luxuriously cozy yet durable enough for indoor and outdoor use.

ChappyWrap styles are fun and upbeat with vibrant colors. There’s something for everyone, from animal prints and sports themes to outdoor and nautical patterns. Everyone will want their own, and they’ll treasure it for a lifetime.

These look awesome. What a perfect gift for the cold months ahead. It is hard to make out the color of the "bear hug" blanket. Can you confirm for me?...it looks greyish brown?

@Liz: Hi Liz, The colors in Bear Hug are predominately chocolate brown and ivory, and some shades of grey. The bear is a polar bear on one side and a brown bear on the reverse. He has a friendly face and no sharp claws!

I am an early recipient of a Chappy Wrap. Years ago I was given one as a gift of healing and quickly I knew I would have to acquire 4 more for each of my children in order to protect my own! Incredibly soft, wonderfully oversized for sharing, beautifully designed, and easily cared for this is a perfect gift for every occasion! What more appropriate wish for newlyweds or comforting thought for anyone who is sad or sick. There is still the "blankie" need in all of us.

Thank you Daily Grommet for featuring and promoting such a deserving company. Beth and Monica's heart is truly behind this loving gesture of love and kindness!!! I look forward to seeing the new color combinations and designs every season!

I am sort of addicted to Chappy Wraps! I have given them to many family members--and then I love to hear the accolades. It is just the best gift of coziness! My kids all have them, and they travel around the house on cold days wrapped in them. My 16 year old boy especially loves his Bear Hug...and when you are 16 you need a bear hug, right?

I don't have a ChappyWrap but the name alone is inspiring me to buy it! Where did you come up with the name? It has special meaning to me because my son's name is Chapman and everyone calls him Chappy!

Chappy comes from Chappaquiddick on Martha's Vineyard. When Beth and I were searching for a name for our new company, we wanted to come up with a name that would convey the idea of wrapping up in soft, snuggly blanket that would appeal to people of all ages. We also wanted to be able to dot.com the name right away. After searching hundreds of names that were already registered, we started working with finding something that would rhyme with wrap and could be easily remembered. I own a home on Chappy. Low and behold, ChappyWrap was available.

We have a ChappyWrap on every bed in the house, one in each car and 3 or 4 in the living room. No fighting here over who gets one!! Except of course the animals...2 cats and a dog. They refuse to sleep on anything else!

@yaz pistachio: The fabrication is 60% cotton/ 33% acrylic/ 7% polyester. The cotton gives the blanket its softness, warmth and coziness. The acrylic and polyester give the product its durability and washability. 100% cotton plush does not wash well at all. You can get pilling, puckering and matting. Our blankets keep their fluffiness with no pilling and puckering along the binding.

I got the lacrosse Chappy Wrap for my oldest son (15years old) at christmas. He LOVES it, big enough to cover his full size bed, he wraps up in everynight and walks down in the morning with it still wraped around him AND takes it on road trips. The bonus was the lacrosse sticks, a sport my family is pasionate about. It washes well and it is probably the best blanket we have ever gotten. I have 4 boy's that play lacrosse, I hope they decide to make it in different colors, so I can get one for each of them. Thank you for such a great find and a quality product!!!

According to Monica, there aren't any plans for a wolf blanket in the next 12 months, yet they'll be launching a platform (contest) for submissions this spring where you can suggest that idea.

Does the material pill at all after washing? Also, does the blanket maintain its shape? Where can we find all of the patterns/designs that are available? My daughter loves to wrap up in blankets - this would be perfect for her. Thank you for your reply!

Oops! I did not read far enough down in the description - I only watched the video. Thank you for mentioning that the blanket does not pill. That is the one thing that I hate about fleece. Fleece also feels flimsy after awhile - kind of loses its coziness.

I noticed all of the designs in the options drop-down list, but they are hard to see. Is there a place where we can see the designs more up-close and personal? Sorry for so many questions!
