Kooba

Magnetic Target Game

On Target

Kooba is a portable magnetic activity that combines the action and dexterity of darts with the strategic play of a board game.

Using metal rods, players send magnets soaring toward the Kooba target at the center of the board in an effort to be the first to stack up their markers in the race to win. But watch out, with a little luck and target practice, opponents can send each other right back to where they started.

Long time
toy designers, Scott Shanks and Stephen de Zordo wanted to create something new and totally different. Although Kooba is reminiscent of dart games, the propulsion achieved through its rod and magnet combo is like no other. The silkscreened board is elegantly designed, and its quality construction makes it surprisingly sturdy given its lightweight portability.

The rules for three variations of play are included, but Kooba can be modified dozens of different ways. Designed for two to four players, each fast-paced round only takes five to ten minutes. From the rec room to the backyard, kids, teens and adults alike will be lining up to give this sure fire family favorite and party game their best shot.

@Stephen Looks like a lot of fun. Does it come with some sort of mount, or do I just find a hook and hang it up?

@Stephen BTW- The rods are actually very stiff and durable and smooth polished pultruded fiberglass. We sourced many different options and found these perform the best for accurate targeting.

@Randy, Thanks for the comment! Super easy to hang with 5lb Command hook from 3M. They will not damage walls and can be moved as needed. It the typical way we hang. Also, the hanging hole is large enough for passing cordage, Carabiner,

S-biner to hang on a tree or fence.

I was really interested in Kooba until I saw where it was made.

@Guest Thanks for the comment! We actually made another version by hand in the US for a couple years while we tried to source real production here. What we learned was that most of the materials were made overseas and the cost of the product would nearly double, so we had to look overseas. We have a very respectable quality manufacturer and had a lengthy visit with them late last year. We chose to work with them because they are good people with a great company and a nice work environment. Believe me, I would have loved to make them here as I have with other products. KOOBA requires a significant amount of quality material and skilled labor to sew and assemble, which would result in a prohibitive price point. I'm with you on US made, but it's not always possible. Thanks!

    Hi Stephen,

Amy from The Grommet team here. I just wanted to thank you for your explanation. We know how difficult it can be for our Makers to manufacture domestically yet we know they always try and do it whenever possible. We also work hard to educate our community on the issue. This is a strong explanation so thank you.

@Amy Thanks Amy! I have actually manufactured many products in the USA during my career and try to whenever possible. KOOBA would have been on the market by now if we didn't spend so much time trying to make it domestically. We tried!!

Can parts be purchased separately in case they are lost or broken?
