Rosies Workwear

Fit for Can-Do Women

Rosie the Riveter would have loved these overalls. They’re named after the 1940s icon who epitomized American women working in factories during World War II. Now 70 years later, Rosie the Riveter’s can-do spirit still inspires.

Sharon Moore had Rosie in mind when she created these tough overalls, designed especially for women. The idea for Rosies Workwear hatched after Sharon took a welding class and couldn’t find a pair of overalls in women’s sizes. She dug a little deeper and discovered a slew of women doing
manual work in clothes sized for men — mechanics, builders, painters, DIYers, farmers and gardeners, to name a few. Women need tough, protective work clothes, but it’s just as important that they properly fit a women’s body.

The overalls are made of lightweight denim cotton and double-stitched for durability. They come with removable knee pads, and you can zip off the pant legs to convert them to shorts. They’re perfect for hard work at home or on the job, says Bonnie Jones, who told us about Rosies. “I wear mine for gardening, housecleaning, moving projects, dog walking and more,” Bonnie says. “I’m a huge fan.”

So are we. Tough-as-nails construction, paired with a great fit and cool colors, is a winning combination for can-do women everywhere.

When it's time to roll up your sleeves and get the job done you want to be wearing the right clothing for the job and often that's something functional and durable like Rosies overalls. My name is Sharon and I designed these overalls to fit a woman's body and her determination. As long as you are on the job, they are on the job. I'm here to answer any questions you may have so drop those hammers, spades and chainsaws long enough to say hi!

I really put the bibs through the wringer when testing them - spring cleaning in the garden, split wood for those chilly spring nights, and I helped a friend clear brush in the woods behind his house. They stood up to the test - love them.

My Rosies have made it through three seasons of planting, growing and harvesting lavender. The knee pads are a saviour. I am an absolute Rosies fan.

Hi Sharon, I love wearing my Rosies for all my house projects, especially painting and gardening. They are so comfortable, and stylish too! Where do you get your inspiration for different colors and patters?

I love this idea! It's really exciting to see there's workwear gear for women! Are these Rosies overalls waterproof? And if not, have you ever considered creating waterproof or insulated overalls for those of us living in colder areas?

Yes Rosies are 100% cotton and machine washable. The fabric is cotton twill so there is very little shrikage.

Jessica, We are always asking for color ideas from our customers but most of them are directed by our design team. We like the colors of nature and the pink was because we are girls.

Caitlyn, You must be looking over our shoulder. Yes we are sampling insulated and waterproof overalls right now. They will be available late summer . This is in response to requests from women like you. Just today I was contacted by a store that caters to women that fish,

    they need water proof clothing.

When we first met Rosies Workwear I wondered if we would be able to convey what I thought was really important....these are serious work clothes for women, engineered and constructed for tough jobs. I was most interested in the function and construction of the product plus the authenticity of the people behind the brand. Happy to report that Rosies Workwear is about much more than overalls that are offered in pink. These are built for all of us... women who work!

Thanks Joanne we have worked hard to bring women a product that works as hard as they do. When you are climbing under houses doing home inspections, tending an orchard or cleaning a barn you can feel comfortable in your Rosies. We hear great things about how handy the knee pads are.

I am a big fan of Rosie's workwear it's great to have a dedicated women's work clothing shop. I see fashion sites and blogs all the time talking about women's workwear but when you get to the site all these women work in an office. This is real women's workwear and with such an inspirational story behind it. Women worked very hard during the war not just over in the U.S but here in the U.K as well making all kinds of things essential to the needs of the day. Many workwear companies now have a women's range and it is about time to.

@Isla - thanks for visiting us from the UK! Rosie's really captures the spirit of women who may be doing what some consider 'a man's job' but don't have to look like a man doing it! I think we all have a little 'Rosie' in us.
