Portable Hammocks

Make Time to Unwind

Seth Haber channeled his love of the outdoors, need for relaxation, and concern for the environment into something everyone can appreciate: a hammock.

Seth’s hammocks do double duty. They’re made for lounging like most hammocks, but they’re also designed for travel, so you can take one along when you’re camping, hiking or stargazing in a friend’s backyard. Each Trek Light hammock is made of a strong parachute nylon that can hold up to 400 pounds. It’s incredibly light, too. The single hammock weighs just one pound,
and the double model (with room for two) weighs just a few ounces more. Trek Light Gear also offers (and recommends using) a rope kit that makes it easy to set up the hammock. The kit spares you from tying any knots and relies on tension to suspend the hammock.

We heard about Seth and his Trek Light hammocks from Katherine Kinser at Stuffitts . We featured Stuffitts handy shoe-drying inserts earlier this year. Both Seth and Katherine know firsthand the challenges of trying to get a start-up company off the ground – and the importance of making time for a little rest and relaxation along the way. With one of these hammocks, it’s easy to unwind and get closer to nature, any time you have the chance.

I'm Seth Haber, founder and CEO of Trek Light Gear. Hey folks: This is the ideal prize for a summer giveaway, either this or a decent meat smoker grill.

I was lucky enough to try this hammock out and it's amazing. So fast to put up and take down. And VERY comfy.

Seth, having the rope kit seems to make this so much easier. If one uses the rope kit, how far apart should the trees be? Thanks

As a general rule, a typical distance to look for when picking a spot for your Trek Light Hammock is anywhere within 9-12 feet. However, one of the best features of the Rope Kit is that it's completely adjustable based on how far apart your trees are - you no longer have to worry about finding those two perfectly spaced trees for your hammock. The points can actually be up to 18-20 ft. apart (!) but that will also depend on the width of the tree trunk, branch or object you're wrapping around.

Another tip - if the trees are too *close* together, just wrap the rope a little higher and the hammock can be used as a nice sky chair or swing. Another one of the great benefits of the No-Flip design!

This is smart. I think I could even convince my kids to do some extra hiking if they knew stopping to rest in a hammock was part of the deal!

I am ordering the rope kit and double. If he weighs 240lbs and I am oh say 179lbs-will the rope kit sustain that weight?

@Sharon - individually you should be fine. I'm forwarding on to Seth as well so he can stop by with his insight.

Hi Sharon - The hammocks as well as the rope kit are rated up to 400lbs so as Katherine said, individually you'll have nothing to worry about. If you're asking about whether it will support both you, I officially have to reiterate the advertised weight limit, say 'at your own risk' etc., but I can tell you I've had a number of customers tell me they've gone over the 400lbs limit without problems - so take that for what it's worth if you decide to give it a try. :)

Can I use this on a stationary steel hammock stand?

@Dina If you plan on hooking your hammock into a hammock frame, eyebolt, or other solid hook and the connection points are not spaced more than 10 feet apart, you should have no problem using the included S-Hooks to just hook right in without any additional accessories needed.

I would like to see the pictures of the color options for the double hammocks before I purchase. The one photo posted is the red/green option, I guess. If they can't be posted here, is there somewhere else I might be able to see them?

This hammock looks like a great gift for my adventurous brother and his family. I was going to purchase the double, but now I am wondering if the double would be too big if used by just one person. Any thoughts???

@Kelly: The double is fine for one person. It allows you to stretch out in the other direction which can be even more comfortable! Unfortunately, we have just been alerted today that he has sold out of the ones we are carrying.

It's been two months, could you please contact your vendor and provide an availability date?

I was looking to order back in February, but there was some issue or another with the 20% discount code.

There has been no response to my original inquiry, and now it just says "See Partner Site".

How am I able to use the 20% off coupon and/or free shipping that you offered?

You can only use the 20% off items that you can purchase from the Daily Grommet website. Same with free shipping - only if it's stated on our website. Have you checked the Best Sellers in the various categories? We hope you'll find some great discoveries there.
