Customize Sneakers & Accessories

Customize Your Kicks

Sneaker lovers, prepare to go custom. With sneakart’s punchy graphic films, you can unleash your creativity and transform your plain leather (or leather-like) shoes into something that showcases your personal style.

Called sneakskins, these thin, flexible appliques are inexpensive and easy to apply. They’re printed with nontoxic ink on a PVC-free adhesive backing, and they can be peeled off and replaced if your mood changes. All you need is a pair of scissors and a ballpoint pen to get started. After a few snips of
sneakart’s boldly patterned sheets, you’ll hardly recognize your new custom kicks. The customizing doesn’t end with sneakers, however. Sneakskins can be used on other leather items such as belts, wallets and sports equipment. We even tried them out on coffee mugs and laptops.

The founders of sneakart are Ollie and Zoe Gilbertson, a husband-and-wife team from the UK who wanted to put sneaker design in the hands of the people who wear them. Ollie is a footwear designer and Zoe is a fashion designer. When they combined their sneaker obsession and love for fashion, they opened a new avenue for DIY designers to explore. Plain white sneakers never held such promise!

Grommet Launch Conversation

  • sneakart

Hi I'm Zoe. I'm thrilled to have sneakart as today's grommet. I designed many of the patterns you can choose today and I can't wait to hear your feedback. Although I'm based back in the UK, I'll be on hand all day to answer questions or discuss any ideas you may have for your own sneakskin creation!

Ollie here. I'm the technical brain behind sneakart and sneakskin. I'm a footwear designer and have been designing sneakers for more than a decade! Sneakskin was created using my knowledge and experience of footwear development. Please get in touch if you have any questions about the function of the product. We've made sneakskin to work perfectly in partnership with footwear so it's flexible, durable and waterproof. It's also removable so there's no reason not to give it a try!

Looks great and happy to hear its PVC free and uses non-toxic inks. Curious about the packaging, is it also eco-friendlier and also, can these be reused when they are removed? Thanks!

Hi Lynn, thanks for your comment. The packaging is fully recyclable and made from sustainable resources. You can't reuse the Sneakskin once it's been removed but you can re-use your template so your next customisation will be super quick!

When I was a kid you WANTED your shoes to be white and stay white!! Admittedly, that was awhile ago!

I took my son shoe shopping a few months ago and he picked out a pair of shoes without really thinking about it. The next day he put them on, looked down, and was very upset. Mom, they're TOO WHITE! I love this idea to be able to create your own one-of-a-kind style.

The fact that you can draw on the back easily was a great way to experiment with this with my 5 year old. He made the drawing and I cut it out. Very fun to make something like that which will last.

Hi everyone, yeah there are many different ways to make shapes in the sneakskin - following our method is just one. Drawing and cutting-out shapes on the backing paper is a quick and easy way too. You can use stencils or draw around objects, cookie cutters, or just use your artistic flair...anything really. Just remember that if you do it this way, the sticker shape you create will be the reverse of what you draw on the paper.

Definitely, Sneakskin is perfect for giving your kid something that no-one else has on their shoes...and something to brag about in the school yard! You know it can actually protect the shoe beneath too. We've used it on our kids' shoes loads and where we've removed it is always clean and not scuffed.

Remember, you can apply Sneakskin to any colour shoe or item, it doesn't have to be white. Because the film is opaque, it will mask the colour behind it...

My kids love this grommet, but my son wants the skulls pattern--Is that an option or are they sold out?
