Melting, sliding makeup is NOT the look we’re aiming for, clearly. But that’s often the sad result after a long day. Add in some heat, humidity or stress and the fresh face you wore when you left home winds up a shiny, clumping disaster by noontime. Skindinavia’s finishing sprays can put an end to the makeup meltdown. Created by Allen Goldman, these sprays set your makeup to keep it looking flawless all day long. Just a few spritzes will do the trick. The secret is in the surface-cooling technology, which draws heat from the surface of your skin and prevents makeup from sliding into your pores, wrinkles or blemishes. Skindinavia’s 10 Years Younger formula works to diminish the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and it contains six moisturizers to combat dry, powdery makeup. There’s also No More Shine, which is designed to provide a matte finish and control shine on oily and combination skin. Professional makeup artists are big fans of Skindinavia’s sprays, particularly for actors subjected to hot lights and long days. The product recently won Bride Magazine’s 2010 Beauty Award in the makeup category. But it’s not just for the pros. “It keeps your makeup on and looking fresh all day,” says Ashley Lojko, who wrote to tell us about Skindinavia. Our own Kate McLeod, who used Skindinavia at a special wedding she attended, looks terrific (shown here with her daughters). So…on life’s daily stage, this little spritzer is the perfect supporting prop.

I have a shiny nose problem. It's not as bad as Rudolph, but I use foundation and then powder to control the shine. How does the spray work over powder and does the spray increase shine? Any tips to control shine in that area?

    Hi Nancy,

Anna here from Skindinavia. We love Rudolf, but certainly, and especially during the Summer, we want to look fresh-faced and glowy, but not just-ran-a-marathon shiny. No More Shine basically works as a primer AND makeup finish and we recommend you use it prior to makeup application, then right after you've finished putting on your finishing touches. I personally focus on my T-zone. (Make sure to shake the bottle well--some of the active ingredients need to co-mingle again!)

No More Shine contains an oil control system that both absorbs excess oil and controls surface shine. What's great is that it gives you a matte look -- without over-drying! The weightless mist cools makeup surface 20°F degrees to curtail oil from sliding through as shine on foundation, blush, and concealer.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks, Anna, good to know that No More Shine controls surface shine. Great to know it can help me avoid that overdry look that powder can sometimes create!

Is this available in any retail stores or just online?

I live in Massachusetts, USA but some stores in New Hampshire, USA are also convenient to me.

I am still unclear as to which of the two products to order. My impression from the online presentation is that one is for oily/combination skin and one is for dry skin. Is that correct?

@Tauni-the finishing sprays are not to be used together. The No More Shine product is formulated specifically for oily or combination skin. The 10 years younger is a moisture sealer that diminishes fine lines and wrinkles. Both product help keep your makeup looking like you just applied it... all day long. Hope this clarifies and I'll refine our language here so that these points are clearer. Thanks for your comment

We are paraben free and the active ingredient is a patented temperature control system that keeps makeup from getting too hot or cool, so it does not melt in heat or dry out in cooler temperatures!

@mlm - we contacted Allen about your question and he says that

it is really meant for makeup, not bare skin. It will help a bit, but is not fully tested outside of makeup wear.
