invisibleSHIELD & ZAGGskins

A Force Field for Your Phone

After finally buying a smartphone, I obsessed about scratching the screen of my favorite new (and expensive) toy, or finding it smeared with my 3-year-old’s fingerprints. If only there were some sort of protection without sacrificing clarity….presto, the invisibleSHIELD from ZAGG.

This tough-as-nails, crystal-clear cover is available for all your favorite devices, from smartphones and PDAs to laptops, tablet PCs, and digital cameras. Go ahead: Scratch it, scrape it, drop stuff on it. Your device is protected,
thanks to invisibleSHIELD. The technology is derived from a thin film that was originally made to protect U.S. military helicopter blades from high-speed damage. ZAGG co-founders Robert Pedersen (right) and Phillip Chipping adopted this virtually invisible and indestructible protective covering for consumer use — and smartphone lovers everywhere breathed sighs of relief.

ZAGG didn’t ignore the rest of your device, either. The company’s ZAGGskins combine high-res images with the scratch protection of invisibleSHIELD. You can choose from a huge library of professional designs, or create your own. What’s great about ZAGGskins is that they don’t alter the shape of your device, like some other bulky cases. Instead, a ZAGGskin actually improves your grip while keeping your trusty gadget protected. No matter the device, ZAGG has you covered.

Jesse, in charge of operating and protecting Daily Grommet’s cameras and other gadgets, suggested ZAGGskins. He’s been a user and fan for a while now because they fit precisely, they’re tough, and there’s a design for just about everyone,

My name is Nate and I am here to answer any questions you have about ZAGG and our products, including the original invisibleSHIELD protective film for gadgets. We all spend a lot on our cell phones and electronic devices, and when they get dirty or scratched it's a bummer. ZAGG’s invisibleSHIELD protects your investment, guaranteed – if they ever scratch or wear, we will replace them for free. Our film is super thin, so it doesn’t alter the appearance or function of your phone/device. You can also express your own personal style with our customizable ZAGGskins – a brilliant combination of high-quality graphics fused with the invisibleSHIELD. So watch the video, read the story, and let me know if I can be of further assistance!

    Is the material PVC-free?

The invisibleSHIELD is made out of polyurethane rather than polyvinyl, but it is a poly "plastic." The invisibleSHIELD is recyclable, and of course we strongly encourage being responsibly green!

These are so neat! I love being able to put my own personal style, or pictures, on my gadgets!

Because there are so many styles and customizable options, clicking the 'buy it now' button will bring you to ZAGG's website where you can learn even more about their options.

Do you have skins and shields for the new Iphone?

  • Kate

I deeply scratched the viewing window on my camera. It still functions but it makes me sad everytime I look at it! I wish I had thought to protect it.

Hi Robin, yes, we do have the invisibleSHIELD and some fantastic ZAGGskins designs for the new iPhone 4.

I am sorry to hear about the scratches, Kate. The invisibleSHIELD will actually improve the appearance of scratches if it is applied over them. It may not make your deep scratch completely unnoticeable, but it will make it look better and protect from future damage. Just some food for thought!

I would also like to add that the invisibleSHIELD and ZAGGskins are great methods for improving the reception issues that some people are experiencing with the iPhone 4. Our films buffer the metal sides/antennae from contact with your hands and drastically improve the signal.

Do you sell gift cards/gift certificates? I'd like to buy these as Christmas gifts for a few people, but would like for them to pick out their own styles.

Hi Sue, thanks for thinking of that and yes, we do sell gift cards and e-gift cards on our website. It is an ideal way to let people pick their own invisibleSHIELD or ZAGGskin.

Hi Cindy, yes, we do make both the invisibleSHIELD and ZAGGskins for the iPad. I have them on my own personal iPad, and not only does it protect from scratches, but it helps reduce the appearance of fingerprints on the screen.

  • Lynn

Is there any special way to clean them? Do they reapply after you've taken them off?

  • Nate
    Nate – Special Guest
    8/18/2010 2:49 PM

Hi Lynn, to clean my invisibleSHIELDs and ZAGGskins I tend to lightly dampen the corner of a cloth, wipe the surface, and then dry it. If you have any build-up on the films, try the same method only include a tiny bit of a mild detergent like dish soap. They clean quite easily, in my opinion. The invisibleSHIELD and ZAGGskins generally cannot be reapplied after you take them off, but we do have warranties on the products so you can get replacements for if you need to remove them.

Hi Aaron, we are very interested in providing the Armed Services emblems as designs, and I appreciate you calling in to talk with one of our reps about it. We are working on securing printing rights for a lot of things now, including the USMC and other Armed Forces designs. Thanks and please keep an eye on our website for future releases!

I haven't installed it on an iPad myself, but I can tell you that the skin peels back easily, so if you don't get it right the first time, you can do it again until you get it right. The key is getting the first edge aligned--after that it's simple.

Thank you to Katherine and Jesse for their great answers on our behalf! Susan, the ZAGGskin (and the invisibleSHIELD) is not designed to protect your phone from drops. Because the film is very tough it will offer minimal protection, but it's primary function is to prevent your gadgets from scratching.

@Natalie - when you click the 'buy it now' button from the Daily Grommet site it will take you to ZAGG's site. If you are having problems at the ZAGG site, it looks like calling their customer service number during working hours would be the quickest way to get help. Their customer service number is 1.801.263.0699 or 1.800.700.ZAGG(9244)

If you are having problems with our 'buy it now' button not sending you to the ZAGG site, please let me know what browser you are using so I can try to recreate the problem.

    Thank you!

@cutiepatootee - a customized ZAGGskin for $7.50? You should jump on it before they realize their mistake! If it's not ZAGG brand or not customizable that may explain a lower pricepoint.

I have had a terrible time with the company. I ordered two skins on the day of the grommet (august). I received an email they had shipped by never received the item. They stated they would resend the order. Again they stated that it shipped and I still have never received the items (it is now the 7th day, their outside shipping time). I live chatted with someone this weekend who told me to wait the seven business days. I have now been on hold for 30 minutes with customer service.

This was to be a gift for my husband's August bday....

just got off the online customer service. yup, took 2 hours...during diner time...ended up with a refund cause they would only ground ship (another 5 day + the month I have already waited). really not representative of Grommet at all. they usually work with really great companies! bottom line....stay away from Zagg but not Grommet! :-)
