2012 Calendar & Planner

Side-by-Side Scheduling

You're a true juggler, coordinating travel plans, work deadlines, gym schedules, doctor appointments and more. But you can't do it alone. When you need to keep track of personal, work and school plans that inevitably overlap, you need a day planner that multitasks as well as you do. A calendar that's designed for just one person's schedule isn't going to cut it.

We like Joan Goldner's approach. Joan started keeping track of her business projects, childcare schedules, and family events using different columns for each
type of activity. The idea caught on, and Joan started publishing her handy gridded planners. The column layout shows side-by-side schedules for different areas of your life -- and easily highlights where overlapping events could get sticky. Plus, on the left side of every spread, there's oodles of room for lists or doodles.

We heard about Joan’s BusyBodyBook organizers from Amanda Carrick. “I bought this deceptively simple planner because, yes, I still like to write things down in this electronic digital world,” Amanda says. “I like to have the visual reminder or record so I can flip through pages and see when a meeting was, or when I traveled for work.”

BusyBodyBook offers calendar year planners for 2011 with casual, colorful cover designs (there's also a magnetic wall planner). The slim, lightweight size might even make you forgot for a moment just how busy life is.

I’m Joan Goldner and I’ve created this system to help manage my chaotic life of juggling my family and work schedules and save my sanity!

Over the years I tweaked it, adding and deleting features and I know that BusyBodyBook will get you through your most demanding days.

I just got back from “delivering” my one and only to the University of Missouri (wish I could do it over again!) and now as a single mom/empty nester I’ve gained one extra column to plan more for just me! I’m definitely on board for Thursday’s girl’s night out and I’m already registered for a jewelry making and pilates. Next weekend it’s flea marketing – I collect fountain pens. I will SO miss Jake and my old life, but… other than work, Parents Weekend, Skype, and holidays with Jake I am a “free” woman. WOOHOO!

I’ve survived parenthood - and so can you. Got any questions? Throw them my way!

I love these planners! I have 4 busy boys and a busy husband... which makes me a busy mom. I love that I can view everyone's schedule at a glance and can immediately see if there is a conflict. I recommend them to all my friends and have featured them on my blog before too!

I LOVE my BBB and desperately need to buy a new one for this coming year. This is the best organizer out there for a busy family.

I don't know if it was because the timing was right in NEEDING a system like this to keep track of my life, or if because this was just right for me, but after optimistically trying several other planning systems, I always went back to my old habits of jotting notes any which place -- until I got my first BusyBodyBook planner 3 years ago.

I'm a total fan! Love all the space to keep lists and brainstorm and plan (the link goes to my most recent review of the planner after I got my brand new one this year).

This is by far my favorite organizing calendar, for my busy family of 5. With one kid in college, one starting her senior year and a 4th grade boy, it's nice to be able to keep everyone's schedule at a glance. Highly recommend this!

I loved the BBB concept. The one thing I would change is I wish there were an option to have the days of the week in order rather than putting Sunday at the end. The weekends at the end format assumes you are a working parent with an 8-5 job, but for some people with much different schedules Sunday is a normal day where they might have to work. None of the planner companies seem innovative enough to give two different options so that some people could chose to have their planner in the same format as their wall calender. I think it would be great if BBB would. After all you've been outside the box enough to come up with a great idea already. Why not take it further?

If we were to get enough feedback about re-orienting the days of the week we'd consider it as another option Shannon! We LOVE feedback - it's what makes us the BEST!

@Joan Goldner: Great to offer as an option for others but please don't change it completely! I LOVE having the weekend together at the bottom!!

I'm already for another year using BBB and love the grid format. I've been using it to help me with my diabetes care by recording my blood sugar levels, exercise, and diet. It's really helped me stay on track. I also like how I can use it to help me plan out short term projects and when one is complete all I have to do is change the column heading for what's next. It's very handy to have everything all in one place, even my shopping lists.

I have been using the BusyBodyBook Organizer for the past 4 years & absolutely LOVE it!! As a mother of 4, it's great that everyone has their own "column" & it even leaves one for my husband & I! :) It is a fabulous organizing tool that I couldn't live without at this point! I even had a friend not order one this year, thinking she could find something similar... she is now regretting it & ordering one after all! Wonderful product, thanks Joan!!!

I love my BBB agenda and wall calendar! I keep one column for my work projects, one each for my three kids, and one for planning household management, including meal planning. The kids really like having one place to look for everything. Our wall calendar also has a column for my husband -- I'm not carrying his schedule around w/me :-)

Now if only I had a way to automagically sync both calendars!

I just purchased my 3rd year (2011) of the BBB. I LOVE it and could not run my busy household & worklife without it!! I make clear labels to put headings for each column ( I like things neat). It just makes it easier!!

I've been using BusyBodyBook Organizers for four years now, and I absolutely love them. I use the undated weekly grid on my refrigerator where everyone can see the schedule for the week: appointments, chores and, most important, what's for dinner! My husband works two jobs, and we have three kids. My BBB is a life-saver!

I love the busy body book. I have been using it for about 5 years now after hearing about it from a friend. I love that I can keep all of our schedules in one place but keep them separate too! I use the school year calendar so I don't have to transfer things in January that I started tracking in August. I hightly recommend this calendar system for anyone with more than one person to schedule.

After looking around, this is the only calendar that allows me to plan for all of us. We have 4 kids and they all have something going on. I have used this for 2 years and plan to continue. Love it!

I've been using BusyBodyBook for 2 years now, tried every planner out there, mom to 4 busy kids, 2 busy parents. Lost without it! Very simple to use, simplifies your life, one of those, "why didn't I think of that" things!!

You must write in your categories by hand every week. Who has time for that? I won a BBB a few years ago and the quality was good, thick paper, good comb binding, cute cover patterns to choose from every year, but handwriting the categories every week is a HUGE hassle for me.

A great way to save time assigning your columns is to print the multiple headings out on labels (Avery, or other label manufacturers)have sheets of 1"x1" that fit perfectly atop the columns.

I have used this for 3 years now. We have 3 kids and I am lost without this awesome planner! I can look at one thing and know what everyone is doing!! LOVE LOVE it!

I sit down at the beginning of every month and write it all down and that way nothing gets lost. I also use the pockets to keep appointment reminders.

I have often featured the BusyBodyBook on my blog and have told many friends!

As the mother of three young children, I find this planner an essential part of regaining my sanity. I use the academic calendar because it coincides with the school year and allows me to see both the month and week at a glance. There are even enough columns to dedicate a row to myself so that I feel able to schedule that much needed 20 minutes of down time. If you don't like writing in the "column" labels, just print out a page of adhesive labels and stick them at the top when you begin using the planner. The spaces are big enough to not only record appointments, but special events that happen as well. For example "Joannie lost her first tooth", and then you can keep the books like a timecapsule/journal for your kids to see down the road. I can't say enough about these planners. Thank you Joan!

I have been using the Busy Body Book for years. When my husband gave me a "smart phone" two years ago I switched to electronic. It worked for a while, but wasn't the same as the Busy Body Book. So, I am back. This book is perfect for anyone who wants to be organized. Don't use the electronic ones, they aren't as good. It is nice to have the entire week of "stuff" on two simple pages. This is perfect!

I have used the Busy Body Books, calendars, and weekly grid pads for years! With a husband and 4 children they have been invaluable in maintaining my sanity. I am an "organizer and list-maker" and I love it! I highly recommend them! Three Cheers for Joan!!!!!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, the Busy Body Book. Not only is the grid great for keeping track of my children and my schedule, but the large "To Doodle" section is just the right size for keeping my weekly "to do" list. I also find the "Appointments and Plans for Next Year" section in the back and the pocket on the back cover very useful. A big Thanks to Joan Goldner.....

I LOOOOOVE the Busy Body Book. I have the undated one for my home, stays on my kitchen counter. I use one column for menus, but I use it mostly for my disabled son & when the in-home caregivers are coming. I have for my pocketbook/console of my car. WILL NOT LIVE WITH OUT ONE. My middle schooler wants her own for all her extracurricular activities & items needed for each.

The only reason for not offering a smaller version is that we would have to shrink the size of the GRID. So many of us need the extra space to write in that shrinking its size would compromise the integrity of the Weekly GRID.

I loved the fact that they have sample sheets to try out. Often times you buy fancy organizing tools but find out they somehow don't meet your needs. This option of trying out worked really well for me! I love the organizer.

This is my 2nd year using BBB and I love it! I have the wall calendar and it's great to have enough room for everyones activites and see them all laid out next to each other. I also use the BBB and it helps tremendously in keeping track of our church activities, school, home, doctor's, ect. I'd be lost without it! Thank you Joan!!!

i love BBB! as a relatively new mom (with a 17-month-old), it was great to have a column to track my baby's nap times and feedings, as well as my husband's business trips, when our bills are due, my major school assignments/projects, and our various social commitments! the rule in our house now is: "if it's not in the BBB, it didn't happen!"

thank you joan, for making such an innovative and high-quality product. you may want to reconsider the smaller size, though, and put a 6-column grid out onto a 2-page spread (3 columns each page) - then, it would fit in my purse!

I Absoultly Love my Busy Body Book and couldn't survive without it! This is the 3rd year I have used it and I love that it comes in an academic year format. I tried umpteen dozen different types of organizing solutions over the years, nothing worked for me and I wasted a ton of money. Then I found the Busy Boody Book. I don't leave the house without it and I recommend it to everyone. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You Joan for a such a simple to use, sanity saving product!!!

I'm about to order by first BBB, and I know that I'm going to love it! But please count me in with those who would like to have Sunday at the beginning of the week. I'm a minister's wife, and Sunday is our big day and the start of our work week. Besides, all my other calendars have Sunday at the start, and it would be disorienting to glance from one to the other. I'm concerned that if I see something in that 3rd slot of the week, for instance, I will show up on Tuesday instead of Wednesday!

Today's Daily Grommet could not have been more timely! I am a self-employed bookkeeper and am usually overwhelmed this time of year thinking about all of the year end tasks I have to complete for my many clients. I had just started making columns in a notebook to try to keep track of it all when I opened today's post! How exciting - just ordered both the weekly and daily planner sheets.

I bought one of the planners for my daughter. Today, for at least the third time, she again raved about what a help it has been to her. She is a store manager, taking a class on-line, and has employees to supervise. The columns have been a huge help to her, one for each employee, and one each for school and herself. Thanks for the GREAT product!
