Before & Again

Custom Printed Tees

Standout Style, Made To Order

Wendy found today’s Grommet at The Resort Shop in Kiawah, S.C., and it isn’t hard to see why Before & Again caught her eye. These “burnout” long sleeve T- shirts are named for the extensive weathering process, which results in super-soft fabric and a slight transparency that gives depth to the material. They’re comfortably chic, perfect for pairing with jeans or dressing up for a night on the town. Whether you’re going for casual or dressy, the semi-sheer printed effect is anything but ordinary.

The fabrication
process is extraordinary, too. The graphics are printed on the shirt after it’s sewn, so the creators can really customize how the designs are applied to each section of the shirt. The color combinations are knockout gorgeous, and you can really appreciate the effort that goes into every design. Plus, each shirt is printed right here in the USA, using a just-in-time printing method so your shirt is prepared when you order it, via a no-waste dye process. That means your shirt is truly one of a kind, and each one is a perfect marriage of sophisticated styling and modern eco-consciousness.

Founder Peter Daneyko (pictured here) likes to say that Before & Again is a company owned by three guys and run by their three wives. No matter who’s in charge, we think they have excellent taste.

I'm Peter, one the founders from Before & Again Clothing, and I hope you love the shirts the Daily Grommet has chosen to feature from our collection as much as we do. We are extremely proud of our process in bringing you something truly unique, with a look and feel like no other shirt in your closet - I am really looking forward to hearing your comments and addressing any questions you may have.

This is such a great one to see come to life since when I found this shirt I couldn't stop thinking about it (I know, it is crazy).

I wish we could have these in women's plus sizes. I want one! ;O)

I don't want the "burnout" to scare anyone who may think that the shirts are too sheer. These are high quality, thick thermal shirts that have small random sheer spots that are part of the unique material. The thickness of the material and the bold colors make them so that you do not need to wear a tank underneath.

Thanks for your comment on the color. You would be surprised how me people tell us they get stopped in the street asking about a B+A shirt they may be wearing.

Heather, you must be reading my email. Requests for plus size comes up a lot. This is something we are working on for this year. So may not have to wait too long.

  • Jeska

Second (third?) the plus size, especially given that you recommend ordering one size up!

Our shirts are fairly form fitting and some customers like to wear them looser than others, hence the ordering up one size comment.

Just a thought: Going along with the 'Plus Size' theme, exactly HOW plus are we considering?

My size is a general 26-28, though we more 'Zaftig' types like things to be a little loose. I'm also 6'2" (really), with a long torso.

I believe you'll have an even wider (pun not intended...sort of) fan base, if you create some serious Goddess sizes, as well. (Not to be a 'Sizist', of course, since ALL women are Goddesses. ;)

    Bless you for listening!

@Lisa in Everett, WA. From one "goddess" to another...I loved the way you phrased your comment. I'd want to be your friend if I lived in Everett. OK that sounds lame. But I meant it like an adult would say it.

These shirts are great! I love the vibrant colors. Will they bleed (and fade) in the wash? What are the washing instructions? Thanks!

  • Sandra
    9/3/2010 2:14 PM

I agree with the comment on the goddess sizes I actually love the design and the process but it scared me when it said order a size up well with 44DD I am afraid ur largest size will not be large enough.

They will not bleed. Wash in cold water tumble dry low. They get softer but hold their color very well.

These are beautiful shirts and they look great on the Grommet team!

For all of the Goddesses for whom these shirts won't work, if you have a favorite designer or company who is doing something fun and distinctive in the plus and tall sizes please let us know about them, we would love to check it out and maybe feature them as a Grommet! I noticed a couple of shirts in the video that are v-neck. Is it possible to order any of the designs in v-neck instead of round?

  • Katherine
    Katherine – Grommet Team
    9/3/2010 5:56 PM

@patti - the v-neck shirts are not available through Daily Grommet at this time. Our current site has limitations for selling variations...but...stay tuned...some exciting site changes are just around the corner!

  • Pam

I do really love the shirts and designs. These are definitely boutique items ONLY. With a price of $84.00 for a tee shirt, and the economy the way it is, it cuts out a very large group of potential buyers. Maybe a lower price point would create more visibility for the artist as well as revenue. Also, what about the use of other natural fiber fabrics for a parallel line of tees.

  • deb

Do the shirts have elastic at the sleeves or are they plain?

  • B-ONE
    9/3/2010 7:13 PM

You can always go to for these shirts as well! Choose from the V or the Crew long sleeves and/or short sleeve with each design as well as tank tops and dresses! I just got my GF some shirts and let me tell you it was well worth it!!

    @Pam - good points!

@deb - the shirts have a knit cuff at the wrist.

@B-ONE - we would love it if you fall in love with one of the designs that we feature here, that you also make your purchase here! Daily Grommet earns revenue from the sale of the items we feature. As you'll notice we don't clutter our site with advertising and you may not realize, we want to stay true to ourselves in the products we feature and so it is not a pay for play situation. The only way we earn money to continue to do what we do is by selling on our site what we feature. We make sure that we are competitively priced so you don't have to search elsewhere for the same product. We are glad that your GF loved the shirts you gave her!!

Wore my coral shirt for the first time today. I love it. Plus I've gotten two compliments from complete strangers. Including one who wanted the website. Great quality, comfy. It was a splurge, but I think I'll be getting my money's worth. Thanks.

FYI--I'm a size 10-12 with a 34D bust. The XL is perfect for me. Not too tight, but flattering.

Thank you as well for letting us know your size and the size you purchased. That will help others know what will work for them!

@Lin S.: Yes, the V-neck shirts are available. When ordering, you first choose which shirt you wish to order. You will then be shown an options box to choose between a v-neck or crewneck style and finally you will select your size. You are going to love these shirts!!

My daughter is doing a research project on fashion and is looking for St. Louis influence. Before and Again shirts are the rave at her school and I was wondering if it is true that they were first developed in St. Louis. What is the story?
