Toffee Talk

Gourmet Candies

"Pieces of Conversation"

Did you ever have a family secret that was just too good not to share? Catherine Hughes does. Her godmother Suzie Soper made the most meltingly good toffee. Catherine could never get enough of this delicious melange of caramelized sugar, butter, and seasonings that turned peanuts, red walnuts, almonds, and pecans into exquisite toffee bites.

Catherine took note and no, she won’t reveal the family recipe, but she shares her delicious knowledge through CJ’s Toffee Talk. She started this sweet venture with the help of
family and friends, who have helped spread the word throughout the San Francisco area. We heard about it from Carolyn Porter (left), a friend Jules met in Dublin (and Toffee Talk’s web designer) who arranged for Jules and Catherine to meet this past summer. Carolyn’s entire family is crazy about Toffee Talk, including her health-nut husband Tony, who’s not usually into sweets. They’re not the only people who find it irresistible: This summer, CJ’s Toffee Talk won two awards at the venerable Marin County Fair (a blue ribbon for the best toffee plus best-in-show for the entire confections division).

Catherine calls her toffee “pieces of conversation” because you cannot eat one without comment. We can attest to that at Daily Grommet, where we devoured Catherine’s artisanal toffee treats and then couldn’t stop talking about how delicious they were. From San Francisco to our East Coast offices and everywhere in between, we think Catherine’s toffee is about to make a big splash in candyland. Psst…the gossip on the street is all about Toffee Talk…pass it on.

When someone asks me, what's your favorite type of sweet, Toffee Talk immediately pops into my head! It's not just the taste, but the texture is amazing also! I've told Catherine, but I'll say it again, Toffee Talk is better than See's and in my opinion, it's the best toffee ever, hands down!

"Talk amongst yourselves" and spread the word about this wonderful confection that Catherine has created. Congratuations Catherine on being featured on The Daily Grommet today.

I'm ABSOLUTELY addicted to this AMAZING toffee. The texture is Perfect, it just melts in your mouth, leaving you wanting for more. I have shared these AMAZING toffee treats with my employee's at dress, they can't wait for me to bring them more. They tell me they would rather have Toffee over coffee. These tins are a BIG hit at my son's school and even my health conscious Bikram yoga friends, can never get enough. If you want to be a big hit at any party, bring a tin of toffee, instead of wine. This toffee is Hand made with love....I'm thinking, little pieces of conversation will make this Holiday Season even sweeter!

Hi my name is Sam, I'm 9 years old. All my friends at school love Catherine's toffee. My second grade teacher has a big sweet tooth, so I always knew what to give her as a gift. When ever we have a bag or two in our house, I have to hide it from my mom, otherwise there would not be any left, for the rest of us. This is really good Toffee!

    I should know, I'm a kid.

In the last year, I have given Toffee Talk as gifts dozens of times. In about 6-8 cases, the receiver has told me that toffee is their favorite treat and that they're either self-proclaimed "toffee snobs" or that they have secret unsurpassed family toffee recipes. I'm happy to share that amazingly in EACH case, some regrettably so, they have succumbed to Toffee Talk! It hasn't been any one thing in particular, but rather how the toffee ingredients complement one another. Toffee Talk is a can't-miss-hit gift surely to please. Don't trust the "toffee snobs". ;-)
