We are a mission-driven, high-energy e-commerce company seeking friendly, tech savvy customer service experts to help us though the holiday rush. You’ll spend most of your time taking orders and responding to customer inquiries via our support ticketing system. Typical inquiries include placing phone orders, checking order status, answering product questions, and more.

 

Requirements:

  • > 60 words per minute typing speed
  • Excellent (and friendly) written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous customer support experience
  • Weekend and evening availability
  • Ability to work Black Friday and Christmas Eve
  • Must work onsite in our Davis Square office
  • Knowledge of Zendesk or another ticketing system is a plus

 

Compensation:

  • $16/hr with the opportunity for overtime over 40 hours/week

 

Time Frame:

  • Employment term: October to January. Start and end dates flexible.
  • We have day and evening shifts (until 9pm), as well as weekend shifts (9-5pm), but the first week is 9-5pm for training. Candidate must be flexible.
  • This is a 40/hr a week job

  • Just outside Davis Square, accessible by T (Red Line) and bus

Key Activities:

  • - Above all, write clean, well organized code
  • - Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle
  • - Optimize back-end for speed and scalability
  • - Work with common third-party APIs (Google, Facebook, etc.)
  • - Apply problem solving techniques to design database changes
  • - Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • - 5+ years of professional PHP web development required
  • - Demonstrable knowledge of web technologies, including HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, JQuery, and Prototype
  • - Proficient understanding of SVN and Git
  • - Deep expertise with Web Services (REST, SOAP, etc)

The Grommet is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to join our Technology team. This role will manage the overall health and continuity of our connected infrastructure environments and strive to ensure maximum uptime and availability, both on our website, as well as our internal network. The Systems Administrator must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment and work with a sense of urgency when the need arises. He/she must have a proven track record of handling a wide range of technical support issues from end-user computer setup to complete server rebuilds.

Key Activities:

  • - Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, VOIP phones, security updates and patches
  • - Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures and necessary documentation
  • - Contribute to and maintain system standards
  • - Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale
  • - Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary
  • - Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required
  • - Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • - 3+ years of system administration experience
  • - BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject
  • - Demonstrated knowledge in routing, switching, security, and connectivity
  • - SonicWall, Apple, Linux, Windows, LAMP server experience
  • - Proficient verbal and written communication skills
