Make it Isometric

This portable fitness device is like a pocket-sized gym. Plus a personal trainer. The 10-ounce disc connects to your phone or tablet to guide you through five-minute isometric exercises anywhere. Isometric exercises are highly effective and don’t need weights or equipment, because you use resistance of your own muscles while in a static position. Think of a plank— your own body creates the resistance against gravity, with half the body working out against the other half. The Activ5 app coaches you through seated and standing exercises that you can integrate into your daily routine. With dynamic visuals and easy instructions that let you track progress and results, Activ5 makes exercising feel like a game. And it gives you instant feedback. For example, it shows you how an isometric exercise is the equivalent of lifting, say, 10 lbs. or 20 lbs., depending on how hard you’re pressing the disc. Maker Dr. Kosta Yanev designed the system to adapt to your routine and lifestyle. The quick, straightforward exercises are so convenient that you’ll fit a workout in whether you’re at work, on the road, or at home.

Quick Questions

How did you come up with the idea for this product?

Activbody was born out of founder Dr. Kosta Yanev’s desire to create fitness solutions that could help him integrate regular exercise into his life. The demands of work, family, and travel made it difficult for Kosta to regularly attend a gym, and the fitness products he tried weren’t truly portable or flexible, so Kosta invented the Activ5, a pocket-sized smart device that enables you to get a full body muscle workout—anywhere—in just a few minutes. Today, Activbody is “actively” growing to share Activ5 with the world, with team members in Southern California, Bulgaria, London, and Paris.

What makes this product unique?

Activ5 has proven to deliver an average strength increase of 30% over 6 weeks exercising just 15 minutes per day. Activ5 enables users to do quick burst, 5 minute isometrics based workouts.

What are the principles of Isometric exercises?

Isometrics are a type of low-impact strength training where the angle of the joints and muscle length do not change during a contraction–for example, a plank. Scientific research has shown that isometric exercise is one of the fastest and most efficient ways to build strength, accelerate fat burning, and tone the body. Studies show the benefits of isometrics for a healthier lifestyle include: increased energy and endurance, reducing the risks of high blood pressure, assisting with weight loss as well as bad habit relief (such as smoking), among others.
