10 stars!!!

I never review anything before. This product is OUTSTANDING. I have a second home up in the mountains. My job is to start the fire. News papers, card boards ,and twigs or fire starters. It was very messy . When we would arrive late at night, it was a challenge to start fire. Most time it would take couple of hours to get a roaring fire. Lot of time, I could not get fire started and there would be smoke in the whole house. Now all I do is 2 steps and within 3 minutes I have a roaring fireThis is a MUST have if you have a wood burning fireplace! Awesome!!!!More > < Less

Best gift ever!

6/8/2015 by Pamela

I received this from my neighbor as a Christmas gift, and it's awesome. Threw away all newspapers. It works every time, is easy, unique, and since I start a fire every night in the winter when I get home from work, I don't have to wait to see if the fire starts/catches.

I'm getting one for my sister and her husband for their anniversary this year. They have fires every night as well, and in the summer enjoy thrift outdoor fire pit.

Anyone who visits comment on how it's such a great idea! Highly recommend it !

Attractive Fire Starter

3/11/2015 by Denise

This little fire starter is so easy to use and it looks very good on our fireplace. No more blowing at the embers to start the fire. Just light the stick and lay it down under the wood. I realy like the simpliciy of it all. But, what makes it special to me is the attractive pot shape and color. And, it's small enough to easily carry outside to the fire pit.More > < Less

Wish I found sooner!

3/5/2015 by Sheila

Absolutely Wonderful! I bought this for a birthday gift for my husband. I wish I had bought much sooner. We struggled all winter to get fires going. We bought all kinds of starter logs and such but nothing burned more than a few minutes. We even resorted to trying to use crayons to see if they would burn longer. This product is well worth every penny. It burns for 15-20 minutes and it is not just a flickering flame. Only thing we would have changed is to make from cast iron or some kind of metal. I just know the dogs and cats are going to knock it off the hearth and break it. It is made of ceramic.More > < Less

Adirondack Firestone Company - FireLighter

About Adirondack Firestone Co.

All Fired Up

Nothing says cozy like curling up in front of a crackling fire, but you can’t get comfy until the fire gets going. Sometimes that’s a challenge, especially when you’ve just sent all your old newspapers to be recycled and there’s not a scrap of dry kindling nearby.

For foolproof fire-starting, we’re reaching for the FireLighter from Adirondack Firestone Company. It’s easy to use, you don’t need newspaper or kindling, and it works every time. Brothers Todd and Chad Keehfus teamed up to create the system, which uses an oil-soaked stone to get the flames going.

The FireLighter starter kit includes a ceramic vessel, two bottles of the company’s Candle & Lamp Oil, and a FireStone attached to a steel rod. To get started, soak the FireStone in the oil-filled vessel. Next, roll the FireStone lightly in fireplace ashes, ignite it with a match or lighter, and place the lit stone under the firewood in the fireplace. The FireLighter stone will burn for about 15 to 20 minutes, igniting the rest of the firewood.

Todd and Chad founded Adirondack Firestone Company to celebrate the charm and spirit of New York's mountainous Adirondack region. They’ve also made it a priority to work with U.S. suppliers. The ceramic vessel is handcrafted in the pottery corridor between Columbus, Ohio, and Wheeling, West Virginia, the lamp oil comes from Texas, and the steel rods are made in Greene, NY, using machinery that dates back to the early 20th century. The FireLighter kits are assembled in Syracuse, NY, at a facility that employs and trains people with developmental disabilities. From start to finish, FireLighter is hard to resist.
