To Go With Air Lock
Grommet Launch Conversation
-
Hello everyone! I'm proud to introduce Air Lock products to The Grommet. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have!
-
Hello Mike, I love the small size of the vacuum sealer. My questions is about the bags that come with that. Would they hold up to prolonged heating in a sous vide application?
-
Hi Brenda, thank you for the comment and yes, they will hold up to the heat of sous vide.
-
Hi Mike... Can the seal created by the Air Lock be opened by hand or should it be cut open?
Also, Brenda's question regarding the vacuum sealer's use in sous vide is important to me also. -
Hi Len,
It probably can be opened by hand, but to ensure a clean, even opening, your best bet is to cut it open.
And yes, you can use the reusable bags for sous vide. -
@len Yep you can open by hand or cut. Personally, I've done both ways. When you go to re-seal the bag just make sure you start a little lower on the bag than where you previously re-sealed it.
-
How many bags come in the refill pack? What sizes?
-
Hi J C, you get 10 refill bags that are 10" x 3" x 2.5".
-
This product has caught my eye. I see the Refill Bags are 10" x 3" x 2.5". Are there any plans to make other sizes? For instance 6-1/2" x 5-7/8", the size of a sandwich bag so a person could freeze individual portions? Thanks!
-
@Christine while we appreciate the suggestion, as of now there are no plans for new bag sizes. If it helps any, the bags are reusable and you may freeze them.
-
What kind of plastic are the bags for the vacuum sealer made of? Are they BPA free?
-
@Stacey yes, the bags are BPA free!
-
Forgot to mention, they are ABS plastic
-
This looks like a great product - size, convenience, no batteries. So I might be asking too much - but does this work at all on grocery-store freezer bags, or only on your proprietary bags? Thanks
-
@Holly Appreciate the kind words! Air Lock Vacuum Sealer will only work on our bags. There's a specialty made valve on the corner of the bag which is where the Vacuum Sealer unit removes the excess air inside the bag.
-
Can the vacuum sealer be used with Ziploc bags?
-
@Denise Air Lock Vacuum Sealer will only work on our bags. Traditional Ziplock bags don't have the valve needed on the bag itself to remove excess air.
-
Hi Mike. Looks like a great product. Can the bags be purchased in a larger quantity with a reduced price? The bags look a little spendy to me for daily use.
-
Hi Michael, this would be a good question for our Wholesale team at [email protected]!
-
Mike, Looks like a great product! How do you clean the bags? Approximately how many times can each bag be used.
-
@Nancy A little warm water and soap will do the trick. Approx how many times the bags can be used will depend on how they are treated. Even during the most extreme usage (heavy marinating, children start using it a football etc.) you're looking at at least 15-20 uses.
-
@Mike Great! Thanks!
-
Hi Mike-the vacuum sealer requires your bags but the thermal bag sealer does not, is that correct? I know the thermal sealer does not remove the air, correct? Thanks
-
@Bernice Correct on both accounts!
