LESS FRICTION

When it comes to drying your hair, an absorbent and gentle towel designed specifically to dry your hair cuts down on the damage caused by harsh friction of cotton towels and excessive heat. Aquitex, is an innovative, special weave that helps hair dry faster and gently. This low-profile towel has a soft, slightly stretchy texture with channels that carry water away from hair. And the fabric is almost completely friction-free, so it’s much gentler on delicate hair strands. When regular towels move against your hair, they can damage it. Cotton weaves are heavy, and just become heavier when they absorb water. Wrapping that kind of towel around your head stresses the roots, too. Founder Britta Cox leaned on her experience in fitness apparel and performance fabric to create this unique material. It keeps absorbing moisture without getting water-logged. Treat your hair better and your strands will thank you.

Hi Shawna, I've had an Aquis hair towel for years. Is there anything new about the technology now?

@Karen Happy to hear you've been a loyal fan for so many years! Great Question. Yes! Our recent launch of AQUIS Essentials Luxe Towels are a twill weave versus woven weave which actually increases the wicking capability up to 20%. So water will absorb even quicker from you hair, which is so important in the health and strength of your hair. Thank you again for your question and hope you continue to love your AQUIS!

@Shawna I've been using one for several years as well, but I'm seriously considering the turban. I hate having water drip down my back, so I often use my hair towel as a cape--but the turban would be even better!

@Jessica Absolutely! What I do is use my towel when I first get out of the shower and pat - don't rub - the wet soppiness from my hair. Then I wrap my hair in my turban and go do the 10 other things in the morning I would prefer to be doing while my hair is drying! That's such the beauty of AQUIS. You can multi-task while your hair is drying all the while saving it from damage! It doesn't get any better than that! Definitely try the turban! Enjoy and thanks for being such an awesome fan!

What is the difference between the Lisse Crepe and the Lisse Luxe towels?

  • Shawna

    3/25/2016 10:44 AM

@Sherri With our Luxe line of towels, we have enhanced the performance of the towel by creating a twill weave vs woven weave so that the towel's wicking capability is enhanced by up to 20%. So that means the water will absorb even quicker from your hair and through the towel drying your hair faster without damage, which is so important. The Luxe line is also softer and we increased the sizes. Both lines are awesome and will help maintain the natural integrity of your hair. Certainly the body towels as well are soft and gentle on your skin and dry your body fast too! Enjoy!

@Lisa Great question! We do realize that women are growing their hair longer and have designed a long hair towel too and perhaps we can suggest to The Grommet to carry those. However, we have found that some women, with really long hair such as yours, can also benefit using the body towel for their hair. Our towels are super lightweight so you won't have a huge clunky and wet cotton towel wrapped on your head. (harming your hair too) I would suggest trying a body towel.

@JUDI Though the Luxe towel wicks the moisture quicker from your hair which is key, the sizes on the Luxe are a little bigger and the towel is even softer, it really comes down to your budget and preference. Both lines will dry your hair quickly and gently without damaging your hair. You cannot go wrong with either. They also last a long time if you take good care of your towel and follow our care instructions. So either is very well worth the investment. Start with the $17.95, see how you like (love) it!

No one mentioned that the towels are ideal for traveling. They dry quickly and take up a tiny amount of space in a suitcase or duffel. A must for camping. If you do have to pack it right after using it, slip it into a plastic bag. I often travel with 2 sizes for body and hair.

@Linda OMG Linda - Brilliant! So true. Because it is super lightweight and incredibly packable, it is absolutely perfect for traveling. In addition, AQUIS is a tool for your hair. It simply looks like a towel. What I mean is that it is the most important tool to use on your hair for healthy and strong hair. When you start using this tool, the same as you use your toothbrush or hairbrush (all about good habits, right?), you will NOT want to leave home without it. When you do this and then hit the road, you take your tools with you. NOTE: If in a hotel, make sure you separate from the hotel towels so they don't take yours away. I've cried many times and run out to buy a new one when I've done this! Thank You Linda for such a great point!

How does the Aquis affect static electricity?

  • Shawna
    Shawna – Special Guest
    3/25/2016 2:40 PM

@melissa Great question! Personally, I have not experienced static electricity when using AQUIS to dry my hair. You certainly don't want to rub anything on your hair not only to avoid any friction but most importantly to prevent damage and frizz. When it comes to the care of your towels, it's important to not over dry your towels and to follow the care instructions for many reasons and one is to prevent any static from happening in the drying of the towels. I have reached out to our fabric experts to add to my findings and will get back to you shortly with additional information! Thank You!!!!

  • Shawna
    Shawna – Special Guest
    3/25/2016 5:09 PM

@melissa Wanted to circle back on your question about static electricity. In addition to what I previously mentioned, here's what our fabric experts suggest after speaking with them. Static electricity is caused when hair is extremely dry, porous or damaged. This is because very dry or damaged hair is a poor conductor of electricity and as such there is a residual build up of charged electrons on such hair. When you rub such hair with a regular towel it will cause the electrons to be transferred from one material to the hair adding to the static charge. Given that you do not need to rub hair ( less friction) when it comes to Aquis, the electrons transfer is lower, hence lesser chances of static.

At the same time, Aquis alone is not the answer to addressing static issues.

If your hair is very dry or damaged then you may also want to cut down on anything that causes friction after you dried your hair –reduce the use of combing or hair dryers especially if the surrounding air is also dry. Instead try out finger styling and try using a hydrating shampoo, conditioner or mask to help keep it from getting dry.?? ? You may also want to apply some leave in products which have ingredients ending in”quat” or “amine” as they conduct electricity better than silicones or oils.

Finally help your hair regain its health if you want to fix static charge issues - the more porous and damaged your hair is, the drier it will be and more likely the static charge.

Hope this helps answer your question completely!
