Breath

Smart Humidifier

Reads the Room

Humidity may not be something you think a lot about. But during the dry days of winter, low humidity can aggravate sinuses, chap lips, and dry out your skin. Breath is an ultrasonic humidifier produced by Roolen, an innovative housewares company that combines smart technology with intuitive interface. For Breath, Roolen invented a new kind of circuit board that “reads” its environment and responds accordingly.

While most humidifiers give you two options (on or off), Breath gives you control over three settings of
superfine, cool mist—all with one button. The Low setting offers over 24 hours of refill-free comfort; the High setting provides a blast that helps you breathe easier in no time. On Auto, Breath will determine the optimal humidity for its environment, and only work when needed. This saves you energy—and hassle. Like the name implies, Breath is a quiet humidifier without clanks or hissing. It’s even silent enough to put in a baby’s room.

Plus, Breath was made to be seen (and not heard). It’s a smart, sleek complement to any modern home or office.

@Yohko There is a placement instruction in our manual . We recommend you put on a table that isolate from other products not only for safety reason but also the mist could evaporate properly instead of condense around .

if the product collapse it would shut down immediately . There is a detector build in in case of this thing happend

most humidifiers have filters or cartridges for taking the calcium out of hard water, which means descaling on a regular basis. why is hard water and calcium build up not a problem with this machine? a bi-weekly vinegar wash will do all the required descaling?

  • tom
    tom – Special Guest
    1/16/2015 1:11 PM

@Patricia with hard water sometimes you do need a mineralization capsule or solution. With other humidifiers I had the very same problem. By cleaning the tank once a week has helped tremendously with the roolen Breath. Not sure if your water is different than mine. I also recommend if it is use a capsule found at most retailers and that will definitely solve the problem of residue,

  • tom

@Virginia E - clean the unit once a week, takes only a few minutes. Use white vinegar, about a quarter cup in the tank with 2-3 cups of water and shake then rinse twice. On the bottom unit, clean with soft cloth or q-tips with a teaspoon of white vinegar and fill halfway with water, rinse and you are ready for another week!

How is the humidifier filled? What size room is recommended for optimal use? Does it get dampness over surrounding area?

  • tom
    tom – Special Guest
    1/16/2015 3:03 PM

@Elaine Hi Elaine, the roolen Breath works great with rooms up to 400 sf. That is the size of my family room and my bedroom is a bit smaller. What we recommend is not placing the Breath directly on a wood surface. I, personally use a place mat on the wooden surface. Moisture is not kind to wood. The mist is ultra fine and if you place you hand over the mist for 10 seconds, about 6" over this mist, your hand will be dry. It dissipates very quickly into the air.

@Pete Sorry forgot to answer the filling part. The tank is inside the unit. It was designed to be filled in your sink not bathtub. there is a release tab on the back of the unit and you press that and then the entire piece slide out and you fill in the water receptacle.

@Pete I just used a humidifier the other day and by the time it shut off, the bath rug that I placed under it had soaked through to my engineered wood floor. All this from condensation. Will. Have the same issue with yours?what do you recommend to catch the condensation?

  • Mike
    Mike – Grommet Team
    1/16/2015 5:24 PM

Hi Donna, there is no condensation, just the mist. The mist is very fine but you will need to place something under the humidifier, especially if it is wood or other materials that can accept moisture. Pete recommends a place mat or towel, just to be on the safe side. By using auto-mode, the unit only runs when the room needs humidity, this way you will not over-saturate the room.

Hi Cynthia, you fill the humidifier by pressing the button on the back of the unit, sliding off the top, and filling the tank with water. The tank holds just under a gallon of water and the unit itself is very light. It probably weighs a little more than a gallon of water.

If the Breath gets the room to 20% humidity at the "Low" setting, 50% humidity on he "Auto" setting, what is the saturation for a 400 sq. ft. room when set on "High?"

Secondly, it would be REALLY nice to have an adjustable hygrometer for the "Auto" setting!
