Stay Back

Amy Leinbach, the creator of the Balance Bead just wanted the clasps of her necklaces to stay put at the back of her neck. But, as we all know, clasps often seem to have a mind of their own. The problem, Amy realized is a matter of weighting. That’s when she came up with the idea for the Balance Bead—a counterweight that attaches to the clasp of your necklace in order to keep it where it belongs. As long as the weight of the Balance Bead matches the approximate combined weight of your necklace pendant and chain, this clever little problem solver will keep clasps from slipping and sliding front and center. Handcrafted in the USA with careful attention to both function as well as form, the Balance Bead’s elegant tear drop shape is sure to complement any necklace and any up-do. Available in your choice of sterling silver or gold, each purchase comes with a small and a large Balance Bead for use with necklaces of varying weights. Finally, you can put those days of fixing and fussing with necklace clasps behind you.

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about Balance Bead! I love wearing necklaces: dainty pendant necklaces, chunky statement necklaces—I love them all. What I don’t love is the constant struggle to keep the clasp of my necklace behind my neck where it belongs. I created the Balance Bead to help minimize that issue.

Each set contains two Balance Beads. I recommend wearing the smaller Balance Bead with very delicate, lightweight necklaces and the larger Balance Bead with necklaces of heavier weights. Not sure which one to wear? Choose the larger size as it works best with most necklaces.

I really appreciate your interest and look forward to hearing your thoughts!

    With gratitude,

    Amy Leinbach

    Hi Amy,

I can't believe someone came up with this idea to solve an annoying problem. I have several "lighter" weight necklaces and you are exactly right. After wearing them for a while it never fails--the clasp finds its way from around the back of my neck, to the side and eventually in the front! I am so excited to try your product.

@Ann I agree with you Ann. I don't need the smaller bead but sure could use 2 large ones, one silver and one gold. This way I'd have to purchase 2 sets , one of each color and end up with 2 beads I would never use at twice the amount of money! Great thought.

@Kay @Ann Hi, Ann & Kay! Over this past holiday season, when I was just getting started, I sold large sets and small sets with one of each metal. I also sold singles. However, customer feedback at the time told me that people were unsure what size they really needed. That's why I started packaging mixed size sets instead. But based on your feedback, I think I'll have to consider going back to selling singles and mixed metal sets for people who know exactly what size they need. I sincerely appreciate your feedback because that's how I know what direction to look next! Thank you!

@Shalee Hi, Shalee. I always recommend removing jewelry before showering or going in the pool. The pieces won't tarnish immediately but they will tarnish significantly faster than they otherwise would if you get them wet (the gold [bronze/brass] will tarnish faster than the silver). That said, if you typically shower with other silver jewelry on, Balance Beads won't tarnish any faster than those. They're solid material (not plated) so they're pretty tough. Hope this info helps!

I don't know if anyone's purchased the Gold BB Set and done it the other way around. I make the different metals in the interest of creating a perfect match (the silver BB for silver and white gold necklaces, the gold for yellow gold necklaces) but it's certainly not a rule. I think mixing it up could be fun! If one happened to have a rose gold necklace, I'd probably go with the Sterling Silver. Just throwing that thought out there! Thanks!!!
