Foot Massage

The co-Founder of Barefooters, David Van Klaveren, is an avid runner who wanted to create a new type of footwear that provides relief for tired feet after exercise. But you don’t have to be a marathoner like David to enjoy the benefits of a shoe that combines the benefits of barefoot walking with the feeling of reflexology. At the core, what sets Barefooters apart from other minimal footwear is what the company calls its “Oooaaahs Reflex” insole. According to our testers, the insole lives up to its name. Designed to activate pressure points as you walk, the innovative construction massages your feet with every step. The insole isn't the only thing that makes Barefooters stand out. These massaging shoes are Made in Italy of an all-natural blend of cork and silicone, called CorksiLite. The material is shock absorbent, flexible, antimicrobial, and even dishwasher safe (top rack recommended). Barefooters maintain their natural feel, flex, and fit rain or shine in hot or cold weather and are engineered without seams to minimize friction and prevent blisters. Ooh, ahh...Barefooters are the feel good solution your feet have been aching for post workout or just going about your everyday business.

    Hi it's Heather from Barefooters. We're excited you've taken the time to check out our shoes. Barefooters remarkable innovation in materials and Italian design allows you to walk like you're barefoot, but in a practical way for the real world. We all know that walking barefoot is good, feels great and helps to strengthen and stretch your feet; going Barefooters is the next best thing. Our shoes have the added benefit of a reflexology insole that gives your foot a massage as you walk and helps them Feel Great, which is our motto and principal of all our designs. In addition, they have anti-microbial treatments, are eco-friendly, can get wet and wash easily. Thanks for your interest in Barefooters and The Grommet. Feel free to ask any questions! Go Barefooters...better than going barefoot.

    @Susan

    Swanzie, although they have not been tested, we have had a grounding expert say that Barefooters are well suited to grounding. Specifically, there is a high degree of cork in the shoes, which is a natural material.

    Hi Robin, Heather from Barefooters here. Our shoes are designed to fit most people's feet, except in extreme cases of very narrow width or very wide width. With wider feet we suggest sizing up.

    I have been wearing barefoot/minimalist shoes for 4 years, and I have some questions about this shoe. Is there a heel to toe drop? also, how flexible is the sole of the shoe? what is the level of ground feel you receive?

    @James

    James, good for you to be wearing a barefoot/minimalist shoe for 4 years already! There is a very slight drop from heel to toe. Barefooters are flexible and allow your foot move in a natural motion so that you have a high degree of ground confirmation.

    Thank you!

    Katie, we have heard medical professionals say that the way to prevent foot problems such as yours is to develop strong, healthy, flexible feet and wearing shoes that promote natural walking mechanics is a good start. Barefooters are like walking Barefoot with the protection of a shoe.

    I have a very wide foot as a result of bunions. Your suggestion to another inquiry was that, for a wider width, buyers should order a size up. Does that mean that if I wear a US 10, I should order an 11? Do the shoes stretch over time?

    Love the idea of being able to put them in the dishwasher or laundry.

    Rona, if you click on the "buy" button more information will pop up including our sizing chart. For the best results, print it out to check your size. I have a bunion too and find them very forgiving, but they will not stretch over time. We love washing them too, either in the kitchen sink, dishwasher or washing machine. Just air dry them!

    Do your Barefooters have any arch support? I have a problem with one foot having a lack of arch due to multiple broken bones several years ago. If I wear a shoe without arch support that foot begins to ache as the day goes on.

    @Jo

    Jo, getting advice on footwear when you have meaningful medical issues is best to come from a medical professional. However our shoes were designed to be very flexible to allow your foot to move in a natural way though it is made with firm material in the insole and outsole that does provide some support with the idea of helping your feet become strong enough to support themselves.

    @Jo I don't have a medically related arch problem, but I do find I cannot wear shoes without arch support for very long. I was a tester for Barefooters and watched for this issue.. and found they suited my own arch support need.

    And they delivered the relaxation/recovery I was hoping for after a day of less-forgiving footwear. There is a kinda cool feeling when you put them on...you can kind of fool yourself into thinking you are not going to the office/washing dishes/running errands. They feel more free, somehow.

Many people who say they need more arch support have been pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the shoes are.
