To mark the opening of our holiday Pop-In Shop (our first retail experience which is inside Boston's Michelle Willey boutique) we recently hosted an opening party to celebrate this Grommet "first." However, we set out to celebrate more than just bringing our Grommet products to retail shelves; we were marking a strong relationship with a local retailer (Michelle), while celebrating our Makers and introducing them (and their stories and products) to the local community.
With the shop full of friendly faces of Makers, local Retailers, our biggest supporters, media, and an excited Grommet crew, we kicked off the holiday season in style.
And because it was a holiday party, we paid extra special attention to creating a very tasty dessert table. What would a party be without the desserts (right)?
We work with talented and inspired Makers daily and crafting this themed dessert table was no different. We reached out to food Makers and bakers near and far to help us bring this to life. Creating an on-brand dessert table was no simple task but you would never know that because each vendor delivered an edible piece of art. We're sharing a few pictures of the sweets and letting you know which talented baker crafted them. Maybe you'll find inspiration for your upcoming holiday party (great news, most of these vendors ship nation-wide!).
Macarons - From local Boston South End bakery Miam Miam Macaronerie. Co-owners Jennifer and Nicole are just about as delightful as the macrons they create. If you're local, get ready because they have a macaron shop opening soon in South Boston.
Cupcakes - Kelly from sugar. is another Boston based baker that left a sweet impression on our dessert table. She believes food should be simple; delicious but with a short list of ingredients. We'll follow her lead because these vanilla bean cupcakes tasted amazing.
Covered Oreos - Kim owns the shop Sweeties By Kim and makes these chocolate covered oreos with detailed patterns on them that are such a big hit. And we know why ... they taste as good as the look!
Sugar Cookies - Bringing our logo to life with cookie dough and royal icing seemed impossible until we saw both of these cookies. (Above) Flourish Sweet Shop took our "Give Differently" logo and magically created an edible version. We aren't sure how they perfected our font but we are hoping they give us a behind the scenes look soon. The bottom cookies are perfect replica of our Grommet logo and almost too cute to eat. Our own talented Leah Hoberg made them. We're lucky to have her for many reasons, this being the sweetest one.
Cupcake Toppers - Custom designed by fondant artist Brittany from Edible Details, these toppers were the perfect festive touch to our holiday desserts. She also recreated our Grommet logo in fondant (below, bottom left). The cupcake toppers were a great way to tie in our holiday look throughout the display of desserts.
Cake Pops - Cake on a stick is enough to make any party guest smile, but it was the intricate detail on these that impressed us most. They looked so handcrafted and tasted that way as well. We're pretty sure that cake pops from Autumn Lynn's Chocolate Sins should be on your holiday dessert menu this year.
Macarons - Yes, they made two appearances on our dessert table. Why? Because they are just the most delicious dessert. Fantasy Bakery created some of the most delicious macaron flavors we've had yet (salted carmel anyone?). These would make a wonderful holiday hostess gift.
Thank you to all the Makers and bakers who helped with our party.
What do you think? Which desserts will be on your holiday dessert table?
