  • Innovation, will.i.am and Grommet scouting at CES

Me (Kate) and Ian at CES 2013

At CES two weeks ago, one of the events Ian and I attended was the Next Generation Innovators panel. We heard the forward-thinking thoughts of some very prominent start-up CEOs, who are working with new models and technologies that challenge the way we do things.

They talked about connectivity, the potential of the cloud, information sharing, talent scouting and even manufacturing. They shared their thoughts on start-up culture (something near and dear to our hearts at Daily Grommet). David Liev of Bump said that in a start-up, the things you think will be hard (like creating a product) are easy, and the things you think will be easy (like growing your organization from a start-up to an enterprise) are really, really hard as you work to maintain your vision and create a new thriving organization in the world.

  • New products we support on Kickstarter and Indiegogo: January 2013

Welcome to January's edition of products that we think are kick-ass on Kickstarter and Indiegogo! If you are here for the first time, read up on our series and check out December and November's products.

    New products | CES

Ian catching up with Grommet Partner, Justin of Zipbuds during CES

Last week, some members from our team had the amazing opportunity to attend the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. They came back with so much knowledge about new products and trends they saw. One of the biggest trends is the rise of crowdfunding. This is nothing we didn't already know, yet it's great to see some of these products that are currently on Kickstarter and Indiegogo in the flesh. It gives us the opportunity to chat with the founders and really learn their story. Given our wild support for these products, we are choosing four this month that are currently campaigning to raise necessary funds. Want to contribute as well? It's not about how much you donate, it's about being part of something bigger and knowing that you are helping to fuel innovation that can change how we make, source and buy products. Hurry as time is running out on a few of them!

Mauz: One device to rule them all

    Raised $12,765 of $150,000 Goal

    Days to go: 49

MAUZ is a fantastic product that we're excited to support. MAUZ is a small device that you connect to your smartphone and voila, you have the ability to control computers and televisions with a kinetic three dimensional computer mouse. In other words, your smartphone actually becomes a mouse that can control computers, televisions and other media centers. The limits are endless.

  • Four MORE Kick-Ass Projects We're Supporting

Sushi Quik is a recent Grommet that got its start on Kickstarter!

Last month, we kicked off a series of 4 Kick-Ass Kickstarter projects we're supporting. Why? Because today is a fantastic time to be a creator, hacker or maker. There have never been more opportunities to get your project funded, designed and manufactured than ever before. And we're not the only one's who think this.  So, we're on board because we want to have our skin in the game and support projects that deserve it.

Yet Kickstarter isn't the only platform funding amazing projects! Therefore, this month we're expanding our support to Indiegogo too. Below are three projects from Indiegogo and one from Kickstarter that we think might be truly "kick-ass".

Want to help support these products? Click through to their individual pages and contribute! Hurry as time is running out on a few of them.

  • What’s Inbound Marketing and Why Do I Care?

    Inbound Marketing

    Dharmesh talking Inbound in Action!

Many people don’t realize that Daily Grommet is so much more than an online shopping site where you can find unique, undiscovered gifts – we’re also a product launch platform that brings products to life, tells their unique stories and amplifies their message. We love to help businesses take their products to the next level.

Every day, we produce new videos, photos, and story content to launch our Grommet partners. Thus we’ve seen first-hand the power that comes with leveraging a variety of digital marketing tactics.

Last week, a few of our team members attended a class through Intelligent.ly called “Inbound Marketing for Startups” taught by Dharmesh Shah, Founder & CTO of HubSpot. Dharmesh gave actionable marketing tactics for entrepreneurs – and they can be applied to any product or business! “There are no excuses, that your business is ‘too boring’ or ‘doesn’t work’ for Inbound Marketing,” says Dharmesh.

We found his presentation to be powerful yet easy to implement. Read more below and let us know if you’ve tried these, or can’t wait to get started.
