Supper Club | Cookbook Giveaway

Today, we tend to eat many meals on the run and find that we are forcing ourselves to "make time" to have a meal together. So when Debi Shawcross reached out to tell us about her new cookbook Friends at the Table: The Ultimate Supper Club Cookbook, we were really delighted.

supper club - cookbookWith a nostalgiac nod to a  supper club from the 1930s and 1940s, Friends at the Table will teach you how to plan your menu, organize the event, and get it all on the table at once. Seasonal menus, tips for table decorations, and music selections make this a book for novice and expert alike. With plan-ahead instructions and ingredients you can find at your local grocery store, Friends at the Table is the ultimate how-to guide and cookbook for a modern day supper club.

Debi's cookbook is filled with fabulous recipes. She even shares several on her site like Southwestern Ceasar and Apple and Cranberry Crisp with Maple Whipped Cream (see them here).

Thinking about starting your own supper club, or just looking for new delicous recipes? You're in luck, Debi is generously giving away a copy of her cookbook to one lucky reader!

  • Mindy Says:

I have a group of friends who meet every month and we do different things each time. Lately, we don't have enough time to enjoy each other's company, so I think a supper club evening would be a great "event" for us! And who knows - we may just decide to change our group to a supper club.

  • Diana Says:

looks like a great book with great ideas!

  • Jeanne Says:

I love this idea! One of my favorite cookbooks is my grandmothers and it is from the 1940's. She got it as a wedding present. It has many ideas for presentation as well as meals. To add a supper club to the mix is even better when people are so busy! Koo dos!

  • robert waites Says:

I would invite my mother and cook for her

  • Marlene Martinez Says:

sounds like a very informative book

  • Cathy Says:

There are two kinds of cookbooks that I love...those that I use for everyday dishes and I keep them tucked inside my cupboard, and those that I use for special people, special occasions, and have the added bonus of being beautiful. They are displayed throughout my home, and I read from them as I plan those special meals for special people. This cookbook certainly meets that criteria, a book that makes my kitchen a home.

  • Topaz Weis Says:

My folks had a "gourmet club" while I grew up in a 60's suburb in Pittsburgh, Pa. I remember when a quiche graced our table for the first time. Eggs for dinner, shocking. I think it's time I continued the tradition.

  • Amber Says:

I would love to start a supper club! We would have to find a babysitters club too so we could invite our friends who are parents to toddlers that could always use a break! :)

  • Aviele Says:

This is the kind of thing the entire country needs, getting back in touch with each other, one neighbor dinner at a time! This is what made neighborhoods safe, secure....things our children cannot even comprehend! What a wonderful idea! I can't wait to get my hands on this!

  • Jen @ SecondCitySoiree.com Says:

I don't know if this is what you meant or not, but I'm going to pick an ideal table...I'd invite Grace Kelly, Dita von Teese, Lucy Blair McCormick (the feisty founder of the Junior League of Chicago), Robert Plant, Igor Stravinsky, Christina Hendricks, and Oscar Wilde. Including me that's 8, which is a nice number. :)

  • Brian Gillette Says:

Looks like a great book idea!

  • Kelly Says:

Every Friday is movie night at my parents' house. They had the most room and the best TV. We just wanted a place to hang out after a crazy week, so four families of pre-teens meet to pile on couches and watch a movie together. We decide what we will eat and everyone contributes a dish. Our recent favorites are taco night and grilled cheese sandwiches with soup. We could really use some structure though. Feeding 17 people every Friday can get a little tricky.
Based on our movie choices, I think we would love to invite Dashiell Hammett, Mel Brooks, Humphrey Bogart, Gene Wilder, Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, Catherine Tate and Barbara Stanwyx. Mostly I would love to have my friends over for a dinner that I made for them, just to thank them for making my week fly by in anticipation of movie night.

  • Sandra H Says:

Our friends get together quite often and bring their favorite dish each time along with a recipe. Not really a supper club but close to it. We also do the same thing around Christmas with a cookie/recipe exchange.

  • Erin Farley Says:

Looks like a great book. My neighborhood is into dinner parties and progressive dinners, so this book looks like a great addition to my cookbook collection !

  • Terry Denbrock Says:

This cookbook sounds like it is perfect for the way we live. We are always looking for simple dishes to add to our menu. We, also, have a lot of unexpected 'drop-in' guest to invite for a bite to eat. My husband and I are always looking for tasty ideas.

  • Jane George Says:

We are a large family, always having get togethers, would love this book.

  • Ann Says:

I love the idea of this...we get together sometimes but it seems one gets all the work. Would be nice to learn how to do it right and share this wonderful tradition.

  • Jan O Says:

This would be a great addition for our pot lucks.

  • Lori Says:

Wow, the recipes on Debi's website look wonderful! I would form a supper club with some recently retired relatives who worked in the food service industry. They love good food but never really had the time to cook their own recipes.

  • Gail Says:

With chronic health challenges and a desire to have friends in our home, this sounds like a wonderful book to help me (and my husband) do both.

  • jeanette Says:

I would love to win this cook-book!

  • Cora Says:

I think it would be great to turn my monthly book club into a book/supper club. I love this book & need to get one for myself!
