Clean and Clear

Reusable water carriers are tough to clean, especially the spouts and tubes where bacteria can fester. Using harsh detergents can be a health concern and sometimes they leave a leftover soapy flavor. Seth Friedman and Justin Koehneke realized this when they came off a dehydrating bike ride and bemoaned their less than refreshing water. So, the two friends developed Bottle Bright, an effective, all-natural cleaning solution for canteens, travel mugs, and other drinking vessels. These effervescent tablets just plop in and fizz up for easy sanitizing. Certified by The Natural Products Association, Bottle Bright tablets clean more effectively than other solutions by gently bubbling into tight spots that hands or dishwashers can’t reach. Biodegradable, non toxic, and tasteless, this bottle cleaner removes not only grime, but tough stains from tea and coffee. Environmentally friendly, from packaging to tablets, Bottle Bright also has a social mission; For every one sold, Seth and Justin’s Vermont based company, Clean Ethics, donates an equal number to developing nations, where even fresh water can contaminate in dirty carriers. To date over 60,000 tablets have been delivered globally with the Clean in Kind Initiative.

Have you ever wished you had an easier and more effective way to clean your water bottles, travel mugs, and other hard-to-clean drinking containers? We did, so after years of struggling to keep these stain and odor trapping vessels clean, we created Bottle Bright – an all-natural, chlorine free tablet that will refresh your favorite water bottles safely and easily.

We love talking about portable drinking containers and our unique product for keeping them clean. So if you have any questions, ask away and I’ll be happy to answer them!

You say above that it helps cleans spouts and tubes but I didn't see one bottle in the video that had a spout or a tube or even how the cleaning process works. Do you have a video somewhere that shows that information?

Great question. There are so many different bottles and other drinking containers that's it's tough to give one set of directions. For spouts and lids and even the outside of bottles we often soak them in a mixing bowl with a Bottle Bright tablet or two. Sometimes you can flip the bottle spout upside down so it sits in the solution in the bottle. For tubes (like on hydration reservoirs such as Camelbaks) you can open the bite valve and squeeze the solution into the tube. Let it sit in there for 15-30 minutes (or more for heavy stains) and you're good-to-go!

I really want to know if it will clean out the mold in the tube of my camelback? And if so, how do we use it-get it into the tube?

    Hi Lori,

Yes, cleaning out those Camelbak tubes is one of the main reasons we developed the product! Fill your Camelbak with about 1 liter of warm tap water, drop in a Bottle Bright tablet, close the reservoir, and then turn it upside down and squeeze the reservoir and the bite valve to get all the air out and fill the tube. Let it sit on your counter - 15-30 minutes for normal cleaning or overnight for heavy stains. Then dump out the solution, rinse the reservoir and run water trough the tube and you should be good.

Your product is just what I need to clean some glass carafes that I use for water. They get a film around the bottom that I cannot clean well. Do you know if the product is certified kosher because as a kosher consumer, the cleaning products that I use for utensils and food related items must be kosher as well.

    Hi Deborah,

Thanks for bringing that up. Bottle Bright would work great for removing that film on the bottom of your glass carafes, but we don't have it certified as kosher. It is certified as all-natural, but the kosher certification hasn't been on our radar until now. We'll look into it and perhaps be able to offer kosher product in the future.

    Hi Gail,

Absolutely! Bottle Bright removes coffee stains really well. Fill the carafe with hot tap water and let it sit overnight to remove heavy stains. Give it a rinse and your carafe will look brand new. Unlike dish soap it won't leave any residual odors.

    Hi Leslie,

I'm glad you asked about denture cleaning tablets. Denture cleaners contain persulfates and other potentially hazardous ingredients that in our opinion should never be used to clean drinking containers. There are multiple FDA health warnings about denture cleaners. There are even deaths that have occurred as a result of misuse!

By contrast, our all-natural formula is certified by the Natural Products Association as safe - containing no ingredients that pose any health risk to people or the environment. Our cleaning power comes from activated oxygen with ingredients that are simply minerals, organic acids, and naturally derived surfactants.
