Yes, the entire bottle is dishwasher safe. it is also remarkably enough it can be turned inside out to wash by hand, to wash the inside from the outside.

I think this is an absolutely amazing product (one I could use when horseback riding every weekend), but the fact that it is made in China immediately stopped me from purchasing it. I would pay $20 for the small size easily, if made in the USA ~ if you ever decide to produce in the US please let me know!

I feel the same way, but the small bottle would be $30.00 Realizing this is a new product of 16 months, the quaility is high and with enough time I will try to manufacture it in the usa, but it would be cost prohibitive, but if the military is looking at it, I must say quality and multi use helps in making this decision. Believe you me,

Does the top screw on? Is the top completely leak-proof?

@Elizabeth The top has 3 parts, all working to gather, to keep liquid in and out, depending on the uses. I do say it is leak proof, so long as you put the cap on correctly.

Just a note: Silicone IS a chemical, it does not exist in nature, it is made from Silicon (no e) also a chemical that exists in nature. Silicone is like rubber, Silicon is like a rock.

"place over a fire and heat up "

Can you talk more about this...can it actually be used over a flame? If so it would be so useful for camping but seems a stretch???

Reinita, It is great for camping and survivalists, yes place it over a fire, warm up soup or make your water potable. It works, many people have tested it.. It is made from Silicone.

It has been field tested by Tim Ralston of Doomsday preppers, it is a recommended piece for the bug out bag, boiling water or soup over an open stove or camp fire. If you go to tim ralston bubi bottle on utube you will see.
