Buckaroo Organics

Soapberry Laundry Detergent

Berry Clean

Made in the USA, this organic laundry detergent is mild on your clothes and your skin.

The secret is in the soapberries—the fruit of a plant that’s naturally hypoallergenic, anti-microbial, and biodegradable. These “berries” are not just a cleaning agent, they also leave your fabric super soft. And because soapberries grow
easily, they’re more sustainable than regular detergent, needing less energy and packaging to produce.

Because your skin is your largest organ, Maker Lindsey Herron and her husband want to make sure that whatever comes in contact with it is natural. They founded Buckaroo Organics to create products with familiar ingredients that are baby safe . . . and moms and dads can proudly get behind.

We liked that, in addition to the natural ingredients, the packaging is biodegradable, too. And we found the cost per load was about the same as with other detergents, too.

When it comes to getting clean laundry without any harsh chemicals or fragrances, these Buckaroos did a mighty fine job.

    It is mentioned it is best to use warm water. I usually like to use cold water setting when doing my laundry. Will washing in cold water not make this detergent effective enough?

    @Cindy hi cindy!

    Lots of people use cold water without any problems. It's most important to place the scoop of powder into the drum first and clothes on top. This ensures it to dissolve more efficiently if it hits the water first. You can even toss it in the drum in a HE machine. If used in a HE dispenser, warm water is recommended.

    @Phyllis Hi Phyllis!

    The large tub has 200 loads based on a HE machine or 100 if it is a standard machine.

    @Lindsay What is the size of the scoop?

  • Peggy

    So there are no issues with using it in a HE and not using the dispenser, correct? And I also only use cold water, it is just as effective?

    @Peggy Hi Peggy!

    The detergent is designed by nature to be great in the HE machine as there are hardly any bubbles or sudsing. And yes tossing it into the drum first with clothes on top is very effective. We want the powder to hit the water first, so it can dissolve. There isn't much water in those HE machines, so putting it in first does the job.

    Can I use this in the dispenser instead of liquid detergent?

    @Renee HI!

    Yes you can use it in the dispenser. I can't keep up with the technology in all of the HE machines:) If it starts to clump a bit ( the clumps will easily wash out or dissolve with a bit of warm water) then it is used more easily in the drum first. We have only had a few bits of feedback of it clumping, and we want it to be super easy for you, so try it in dispenser, if it clumps, toss it into the drum!

    Is this effective at stain removal or is there a special stain treatment step recommended for use with this detergent?

    Anything you would normally stain treat, strawberries, chocolate milk...etc, will need spot treated with ours, too. It does a great job with normal wear and tear or fresh stains, but if an item has sat in a laundry basket for a few days with grass stains or mustard, it will likely need spot treating with another product. The soapberry is great for everyday use.

    absolutely! We wash sheets and towels in hot water. All temps of water should be fine, just make sure to pour scoop of powder in first and towels or clothes on top!
