Ultimate Desk Toy

All work and no play is a drag for Craig Zucker and Jake Bronstein, so the two entrepreneurs set out to boost the fun quotient at the office. Their latest magnetic attraction is called Buckycubes, and it’s just the thing when you want to ease the tension or get your creative juices flowing. Buckycubes is a set of 125 rare earth magnets. The cube-shaped magnets have more flat surfaces than round versions, which mean more opportunities to cling to each other. You can bend, fold. glide and snap pieces together to create just about any shape your brain can imagine. But be warned: Buckycubes is hard to put down, since there’s always one more shape to make or mold. It just never gets old. For adults of all ages, Buckycubes is a great gift. (Buckycubes aren’t intended for kids, since magnets are dangerous if swallowed.) Sleek, shiny and new -- it’s just what the office needs. So ditch the stress ball, dump the pet rock and make way for Buckycubes.

    Jake,

I am getting this for my daughter who benefits greatly with having something to futz with as it is calming to her. 1 out of 5 children have challenges with what's called sensory integration and need things that they can squeeze, squish and manipulate. She love magnets!

This appears to be a great addition to my therapy toolbox. On occasions, it is helpful for clients to have something to manipulate while "talking".

@Jake Bronstein: Thought these were so cool but I'm focusing on buying American made products this year. Maybe you can find some cool stuff made here in the US to promote.

@Airforcemom: Hi there...you probably have already found this..but if you look at each category at the top of our site you will find a pile of "Made in USA" ideas in every one. We accept that not every product can be domestically manufactured...we gave away many production capabilities to other countries over the last decades. But when a Grommet can be made in the USA we definitely want to celebrate the heck out of that aspect. I was born and raised in Detroit. This is near and dear to me...glad it is for you too.

You comment for the desk - aren't magnets - and these being very powerful ones - dangerous around computers and other electronics? Just wanting clarification before possibly purchasing. Thanks.

@Kathy: Thanks for writing. While we definitely don't recommend sticking the magnets to your computer and other electronics, I am happy to report no damage to any of my electronics, credit cards, etc and my desk is basically a Bucky fortress so you really have nothing to worry about there.
