Love it!!

I had never seen this product, but really liked the concept. I have been using for about two weeks now and can't imagine keeping my table butter any other way! I have gotten a second one for my sister because I love mine so much.More > < Less

A REALLY good solution!!

I had never heard of a butter bell, but was frustrated with hard butter and looking for a solution. The butter bell arrived on Grommet (my favorite shopping "mall") and I decided to try it. I LIKE it a lot! It is so much cleaner than the butter dish (even covered) sitting on the counter. It doesn't hurt at all that it is cute too! SO, while I was never one with a butter dish on the counter, I really like this solution - especially since I prefer the flavor of reduced sodium butter ...More > < Less

Better Butter!

There's nothing worse than pulling your muffin, scone, or toast apart when trying to spread cold butter on it. This lovely butter crock keeps butter soft and fresh. You'll probably want more than one for plain and flavored butter!More > < Less

About Butter Bell

French Style

You might not know about the French butter crock, but this counter- and table-top icon has been in European kitchens for centuries. The Butter Bell is an update of this classic way to store butter out of the fridge that keeps it soft, spreadable, and fresh.

Lisa Tremain created The Butter Bell in 1996, and her design pays homage to the original. The two part crock and lid combine butter storage and serving in beautiful new bone china.

Add homemade or store-bought butter to the serving lid and about ⅓ cup cold water to the crock. Flip the lid upside down and place in the crock to create a seal that blocks butter-spoiling air and light from getting in. Refresh the water every few days to keep butter fresh for up to three weeks out on the counter.

This tried-and-true method has been around since the 19th century and is still a great way to keep butter tasting delicious and perfectly spreadable.
