Does not work as advertised

11/18/2018 by Sandra

I ordered this butter crock, and followed the instructions. Unless your kitchen is as cold as your refrigerator this does not work. After puttingutting butter in the crock and adding water.I then set it on my kitchen counter.Later I looked to see inside, and found that the butter had fallen into the water.I am very disappointed, don’t waste your money on this.I don’t believe the other comments are real....More > < Less

Water butter

I love the way it looks. However, butter keeps dropping into water. Soft butter all over it. Too messy to use.

Poor design

I bought three. One for myself. Two for gifts I’m glad I used mine first. It’s made far too small to hold any butter and the butter thatr that is in it comes out with the cover when you lift it off.
Disappointed

About Butter Bell

French Style

You might not know about the French butter crock, but this counter- and table-top icon has been in European kitchens for centuries. The Butter Bell is an update of this classic way to store butter out of the fridge that keeps it soft, spreadable, and fresh.

Lisa Tremain created The Butter Bell in 1996, and her design pays homage to the original. The two part crock and lid combine butter storage and serving in beautiful new bone china.

Add homemade or store-bought butter to the serving lid and about ⅓ cup cold water to the crock. Flip the lid upside down and place in the crock to create a seal that blocks butter-spoiling air and light from getting in. Refresh the water every few days to keep butter fresh for up to three weeks out on the counter.

This tried-and-true method has been around since the 19th century and is still a great way to keep butter tasting delicious and perfectly spreadable.
