This countertop butter dish neatly stores butter at room temperature, keeping it spreadable without sacrificing any of its fresh flavor. The flip-top lid blocks exposure to light and air, while a built-in knife rest keeps the included spreader off the counter. There’s even a hidden ridge to scrape the spreader (or a knife) clean on.

  • Materials: 95% BPA-free plastic, 5% silicone
  • Care: Microwave- and dishwasher-safe; lid snaps off for cleanup
  • Attached flip-top lid never touches butter or counters
  • Durable, shatter-proof design
  • Features hidden back wall for scraping butter spreader clean
  • Designed with wide, easy-grip handles and non-skid base
  • Holds up to 2 four ounce sticks of butter as well as the European-style blocks of butter

Want to buy,but

I cannot write a review because I don't own this dish but I would like to make a comment that I would like to see this in ceramic or glass. I can see that having it in another material might have other issues, of weight and too many pieces to wash and clean but perhaps this comment might inspire another artisan to design one.More > < Less

Haven't used yet

It doesn't fit in cupboard where I have my old butter container

Meh, it's a butter dish

Not sure that I notice a difference in flavor between this and our old glass dish, and the spreader is not really needed anyway. It's nice to have room-temp butter in the summer, though. But it is impossible for the cat to smash it by pushing it onto the floor, so that's a plus.More > < Less

Good product, poor color choices

8/13/2017 by Barbara

I have other butter dishes that work as well, but having the top attached is a definite welcome addition. My only complaint is the color choice. Since this is meant to be kept on the counter, it should reflect modern color schemes. The available color choices remind me of my grandmother's farm kitchen. How about some bright, modern colors? I would have rated it higher if I didn't feel I needed to keep it out of sight in a cabinet.More > < Less

needs a little help still

I have always had a butter dish. What appealed to me is that it was all one piece, and the knife holder. I find the knife a little too thick so it never cuts the butter evenly. When it is warm out, the melted butter somehow leaks out the back or bottom and leaves a greasy mark on the counter.More > < Less

About Butterie

Countertop Butter

Butterie™ creator Joelle Mertzel made her own countertop butter dish when she learned that butter doesn't have to go in the fridge, and that storing it at room temperature can enhance the flavor.

Before refrigerators existed, everyone kept their butter in a crock on the counter or in a cabinet. Joelle took that idea and improved upon it. Her dish has a flip-top lid that blocks light and reduces the butter’s exposure to oxygen, helping it stay fresh for longer.

Butterie™ is compact enough to fit almost anywhere, and sized to hold two sticks of butter. It comes apart for easy cleaning and can go in the dishwasher, too. There’s a built-in spot for resting a knife (or the included spreader) and a hidden ledge for scraping it clean. This reinvented butter dish makes it easy (and cleaner) to have fresh, soft butter always on hand.
