It’s All in Reach

This personal back scratcher cleverly solves the problem of the hard-to-reach back itch. Made with two-foot nylon straps and power grip ball handles, the Cactus Scratcher lets you reach every corner of your back without stretching and straining. Simply hold it behind your back, with one strap in each hand, and run it along that pesky itch. Voila… relief. Each side has a different kind of spikes: wider for more gentle scratching, and pointier for a more aggressive approach. The Cactus Scratcher is compact, too, making it easy to travel with and store. Founder Jedd Olsen had a bunch of back scratchers around his house that he didn’t like. Then one night, he got inspiration in a dream: he pictured himself rubbing up against a prickly pear cactus to scratch an itch. Not long after, the Cactus Scratcher was born. No more asking a friend or your significant other for help—scratching that itch has never been easier.

Jedd, can the cactus scratcher be used with water? Say in the shower with soap to wash, not just scratch, the back?

    Thanks,

    Elle

Hi Eleanor, Jedd can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it would be very effective for shower usage. It's certainly a use for them to consider in the future, but the Cactus Scratcher isn't absorbent so it couldn't retain soap or water.

    @Eleanor

It's really designed for dry use out of the shower over clothing or on bare skin.

Although, if you really wanted to get creative, you could try mashing a bar of soap onto a Cactus Scratcher and then using it in the shower. We are in no way suggesting this will actually work, but it could be worth a shot.

You might be able to design a sleeve that is attached over the scratcher that would hold liquid soap for the shower. Use velcro or a button, or part of a sock if it would stay in place. Hmmm.

i used some "at home" engineering & attached my "Loofah" shoer brush with some strappin i had . Works great in the shower, cover 110% of my back- but I don't use it dry as a back scratcher, because it leaves little "Loofa" strands all over floor !! when they are wet they don't shed, but have a vac or dust broom hand if you use it dry..Great idea>>>> asked my wife to get me one, as i an ALWAYS bugging her to scratch my back..regular back scratchers hurt my shoulder joints after a short time. thanx Jedd

We made the strap long enough for taller folks. Shorter users just hold further up the straps or wrap it around a finger or wrist.

This item is a lot CHEAPER ON AMAZON. NO SHIPPING ON AMAZON. It sells for $13.95 with no shipping and no tax depending on where it is shipped. Here, you have to pay $5.44 for the cheapest shipping bringing the total up to $18.39. Amazon? Total is $13.95.

@Sandra Hmm. I see that Amazon's price is actually higher than ours at $12.95. But yes if you pay$99/year to be a Prime member you could get free shipping. Our free shipping is available to all and it starts on orders over $50. Free shipping is not really free--that is why massive Amazon is charging more for the product than we do--they can make it up on higher prices. I do understand it is hard to act for the collective good of supporting small businesses if it costs you an extra $4.34 on this purchase.

@Sandra I am a prime member for FREE. Anyone who is a regular prime member can ADD as many people they want as "guests" on prime. That person then also gets free shipping on all Prime items. My sister added me, and if I wanted to pay to become a full prime member, I could add as many as I wanted to as GUESTS. The guest gets free shipping but not all the other benefits that a regular prime member has.

@Jules I don't think you understand Amazon's shipping rates. Things sold by Amazon always have free shipping for orders over $35, you don't need Prime. It's basically the same promotion you offer but with a $15 lower barrier. Of course, you can also pay for Prime and remove the minimum completely.

Also, Amazon's price is $0.81 more. I'm not sure you can really claim that your price is that much better.

I don't mean to defend Amazon I don't mind paying more so I can buy it from you instead of Amazon.. I love what the Grommet does. I just don't think you are being that honest in this case.

Brandy, Sandra, we can debate the specifics of Amazon Prime membership all day. For instance, if you have a Prime membership you can only add four additional members and the price of this product on Amazon is at least $.60 more expensive.

One thing you surely won't find on Amazon is the great ideas for new uses for this product. No inch of the back may be unclean or itchy ever again. If you love what the Grommet does, you have to love that. Thanks for supporting this product. It was an office favorite.

I think a double sided snap on would be a great idea! Especially for travel. Put a sponge or terry cloth on one side and a loofah sheet or veggie scrubber on the other side that is snap on ... snap off. Then you have a great back scratcher AND a super shower tool for not only your back but under feet and heels. As an older person, it's getting harder and harder to reach some areas and this would be a great solution!

Hi Taro and Jana, it is possible to use the Cactus Scratcher with one hand. The benefit of the long straps is that you can hold both ends with one hand and still get the same functionality. It will take some adjusting but it is doable and shouldn't compromise the effectiveness of it.
