Swept Away

CarPET is a simple tool that gently lifts and gathers pet hair without sticky tape or vacuum attachments. The rectangularly shaped, textured-rubber block grips all the pesky hairs stuck in car seats, furniture upholstery, and carpet fibers . . . then instantly sweeps it away. This effective little gadget is easy to use; just hold one side on a flat surface and with very little pressure, pull the hair towards you. Created by Britain-based, animal lover Nicky Kininmonth, CarPET was inspired by the rubber glove and water remedy for tackling pet hair. Already popular across the pond, CarPET is now available stateside and The Grommet is one of the first to sell it. Compact enough to store in a kitchen drawer or a car glove compartment, you’ll want to keep several handy. CarPET cleans easily after use with a quick rinse under the faucet.

Does tis tool work better than a vacuum cleaner in the car? I know it is probably much easier, but I am looking for the best animal hair remover, no matter the level of difficulty.

    Thank You!

    Tam

    Hi Tam,

The CarPET will wipe away pet hair just as well as a vacuum cleaner, the difference is in the the type of tool and how it's used. For those who aren't looking to carry a vacuum and all that goes along with that, this is an easier, more efficient solution.

How effective is the CarPET on leather and NON-cloth materials?

How does it work on leather furniture and wooden furniture. I have 4 pugs that shed continuously.

    Hi Les and Sonia,

While it likely won't scratch this furniture, it might be a better idea to just use a cloth on more delicate material. The nubs designed to dig into fabric and pull up any hair.

I would question rinsing it off in a sink unless you have some way to catch the hair before it goes down the drain. Otherwise you'd be left with a messy, hard to remove clog.

Nicky, we have a black, short hair pit bull. All the demonstrations show fluffy fur being extracted. Will it work with the short pin-like fur of a pit bull?

    Thanks,

    Suzanne

    Hi Suzanne,

It will. Several of our employees have dogs with shorter hair yet it still manages to get everywhere. The CarPET worked just as well with those dogs.

Nice idea. I have been using damp hands to remove the cat hair from my furniture. I have 2 cats.

Nicky I love your deep "British" voice. So many American women's voices screech. I think it's due to their having watched kid's shows on TV where all the characters have high pitched screech voices. It drive me nuts, and it seems to be getting worse.

@Linda I wear fleece vests a lot. After washing my hands I run quite damp hands over the fleece and it allows me to roll the cat & dog hair into a kind of mat and that does the job nicely. Continue rubbing hands around each other to collect and then dispose of the fur. Then I wash my hands again.

I would also like to know how the carPet works on upholstered furniture!

Great idea. This is a first product for Nicky but I'm certain she would take this into account for a second version.

Hi. Two questions. 1) Does the product work on rugs? 2)The furniture or upholstery examples shown in the video all seem to be taut. Does it work on upholstery that is looser in the fabric?

    Hi Lindsey,

The CarPET has been most heavily tested on "short pile" fabrics and rugs and that's what it's designed for. It's more akin to a broom in this way than a vacuum.

    Hi Rick,

The CarPET will indeed remove hair from clothing. Any surface where it can really get into the fibers of the fabric will be easy for the CarPET.
