Clear My Head

Natural Relief for Nasal Congestion

Soothe Sinuses

Plants clean the air. But they just might be able to clear your head, too. Made with herbs and essential oils hand chosen by aromatherapist Brenda Stansfield, Clear My Head is an all-natural remedy for stuffy noses and other sinus symptoms.

Inhaling just above the jar, you’ll get an invigorating scent of eucalyptus, rosemary, lavender, and other oils like ravensara—a Madagascan oil heralded locally as a cure-all. Or make a
steam tent over a bowl of hot water from the tap and some of the botanical blend. Whichever method works for you, it’s more refreshing and refined than smearing on a petroleum-based rub.

Arriving in Dayton, Ohio from her native Florida, Brenda learned that it’s not called “Sinus Valley” for nothing. Her volunteer job in an arboretum sparked an interest in the healing properties of scents. Now as a certified clinical aromatherapist, she harnesses the power of plants for health.

Brenda makes Clear My Head in small batches to ensure freshness, and packages each jar with a seashell (a reminder of her childhood in the Sunshine State) for scooping.

What a great story! I love the jar but it is a little large for travel. Do you have a smaller jar? I know you have the roll-on for travel and that is really nice when I am congested. However, I feel the jar is better for just waking me up and making me more alert at work. They are both nice, but they are different. I would travel with both of them if there was a smaller jar.

@Kathleen Thanks for the kind words Kathleen! We don't recommend taking a jar, large or small in your luggage - it's glass and goodness, if it opened up you'd have a big mess (although an amazing smelling suitcase!) That's one of the reasons we created the roll-on. It's small enough to go through security, doesn't leak, spill or over-apply. However if you simply MUST have the jar, we suggest you scoop out some of it and put it in a self sealing tea bag or drawstring pouch to take with you. Whatever you do remember to... just breathe!

  • Brenda

    1/6/2016 10:23 AM

@Carl Great question Carl. The formula was created for persons 5 years of age and up. We know many people prefer natural products for their little ones too so we have ways you can use it. For infants we suggest rolling the '2go' on YOUR skin and holding baby close. We call this 'cuddle therapy' and your body heat would release the oils just enough for baby to get some relief. Please don't apply it directly to an infants skin, their skin is much too delicate and sensitive for essential oils. Young children (2-4 years) can use the jar as long as mom or dad are with them so they don't eat it. As with any product, it's best to use with children only with adult supervision. Thanks so much for a great question!

I use both the jar and the clear my head 2go roll on. I have the clear my head 2go on everyone's desk. I have found the best way to use the roll on is to roll on the side of your hand and then sniff... I also just gave my 4 year old grandson his own little roll on to use. Best product ever and it's natural...

    1/6/2016 10:37 AM

@Terry Hello Terry! Glad you asked. If you use it as instructed it will last up to 2 years! It's not intended to be open all day. Just open and inhale it as you need it. Breathe in and recap the jar. Of course if you use it as a steam, you might use it up a bit faster! Thanks for the questions and interest in our products!

Not good for people with eucalyptus allergies, especially if used as a steam treatment which can carry the eucalyptus throughout a room. It's unfortunate but most people don't even know that something as simple as eucalyptus can cause mild to severe breathing problems, rashes, etc.

I remember the first time I walked into your shop years ago; you were crafting your aromatic concoctions and the scent was amazing, even from outside. I stopped by to try out some of that crazy aromatherapy stuff because I had a nasty cold and just couldn't breathe; one breath in your shop cleared me up and I bought my herbal inhalation jar on the spot. When I was doing massage professionally, I would use your products on my clients so that they could breathe while prone, and they all loved the scents and many wanted to know where to purchase the roll-ons. I also love that you are so committed to using quality ingredients.

Kathleen is right! They last a long time. We say two years for the jar. The roll-on is made with Jojoba Esters so they have an incredibly long shelf life as well. Plus since they don't spill or over apply you get a tremendous value too!

I would suggest asking his primary physician and oncologist before using anything with him. If they give you the go ahead on an aromatherapy based product then I would suggest using the jar. Thank you for asking such an important question. All my best to you and your family.

I probably wouldn't have paid so much attention, but I'm on day 4 of a cold and could REALLY use some soothed sinuses!! Here in Southern California we believe in healing herbs and oils, so this is tailor made. I ordered a set for me and 2 for my son and daughter in law (who have 2 babes), as my son works out of town 3 days a week and has had nose issues for a long time...as does his wife. I look forward to better breathing for all. Thanks and good luck with your launch. I had a bad reaction, swelling and pain where it touched my skin, to a Melaleuca skin cleaning product a number of years ago. As your product contains tea tree oil, should I avoid it?

  • Brenda
    Brenda – Special Guest
    1/6/2016 4:29 PM

@Lucinda Hi Lucinda, that is unfortunate. It may be that you are allergic to Tea Tree (Melaleuca) and without know what dilution or other ingredients were in the other product it is hard for me to tell you if it would or not. I always advise people with know allergies to any ingredient to avoid products that contain them. Otherwise, it's best to do a small skin test on your wrist with any new product you are trying. Since you don't apply the jar, that would be your best bet in our products. I hope that helps you decide if it's good for you or not.

Hi Brenda. I've read all the comments and am intrigued. Since I see that you are an herbalist, I do have a question before moving forward with my purchase.

I get sinus headaches that inevitably turn into a migraine headache.

Will this product assist with prevention of a migraine? Also, what herbs, and/or essential oils do you recommend that I use when the headache hits? I'll add that I tried Feverfew and it does not help.

Thanks for any advice you can share!

@Cindy Hi Cindy! I am not an herbalist, but I am a clinical aromatherapist. It's ver different modalities. However I can answer you question. This product will help with headaches, it has several ingredients that target migraines in particular: lavender, peppermint and rosemary. I would suggest the roll on. We use this blend in our massage practice with clients who present headache and/ or congestion. I hope this answers your question.

@Patty Hi Patty! The jar can last up to two years when used as directed. You can refresh it by shaking the jar. I suppose if you have oils at home you could refresh it, but it would be very different from the original blend. Thanks for the great question!

@Brenda Hi my daughter uses dymista spray, prescribed by ENT, would the blend in anyway interfere with med? I don't believe so. Also, She has gastritis and ingesting peppermint isn't good for that, but would inhaling the blend cause any stomach discomfort? Again, I don't believe so. Thanks!

  • Brenda
    Brenda – Special Guest
    1/6/2016 11:35 PM

@Nelly Hello Nelly, I can't honestly say yes or no to your first question. I would ask your ENT if they are comfortable with using a natural based product with that medication. There is an Herbal PDR your doctor can reference, but it's best to defer to them since they know your daughters complete medical history.

The second question is easier! Since you don't ingest it, she should not have any issues with the roll on or the jar. The small amount applied wouldn't be enough to cause stomach discomfort. I hope that helps! Thanks for stopping by to learn more!
