Naturally Crafty

Crayons have a knack for finding their way into little kids’ mouths, and even big kids have a hard time keeping paint-covered fingers away from their faces. The inevitability of art supplies making contact with kids’ skin got veteran teacher Diana Mercer thinking: Just how safe are so-called nontoxic art materials? Diana’s curiosity led to experimentation, and her kitchen experiments led to an entire line of 100% natural art supplies. All the ingredients are listed on each package. There are no chemicals or synthetic additives, just plant-based materials and good-enough-to-eat ingredients like flour, salt and vinegar. Instead of chemical dyes, Diana gets her gorgeous color palette from items such as spinach, turmeric and carmine. The modeling dough, paint, markers, crayons and glue are washable with soap and water, and the entire line of Clementine Art supplies is manufactured in the U.S. It’s just what you need for a healthy, happy and wonderfully messy creative outlet.

Hello friends, I am delighted to be with you today, and so pleased to be included in the Daily Grommet’s fabulous offerings. My story is simple; I am a creativity-obsessed teacher who wanted to provide a more natural alternative to conventional art supplies, so I created them! Clementine Art offers all natural, chemical and dye free dough, paint, markers, crayons and glue so that your little one can have better products for discovering her imagination (or sneaking into her mouth). I am so happy to answer any questions you might have about creative development, art ideas, or Clementine products, so just drop me a line.

These are awesome products for little ones! Just wondering how the cleanup is? How about if it gets on clothes, walls, and furniture? Thank you.

@susan: Our dough, crayons, and glue are all completely, entirely washable from all surfaces with soap and water. We have found our paint and markers to be washable with soap and water from all surfaces; tables, counters, floors, hands, and ALMOST all clothing. We do recommend wearing a smock when painting since all paint has the possibility of staining clothing. We also don't recommend painting the walls or carpets - since these are always harder to clean. Hope this helps!

These art supplies sound great! Especially for the little kid in me, but I might like to get some for my grandchildren, as well. Let me know when the clay and crayons are back in stock! Thanks!
