Hello everyone! I'm proud to introduce Clever Scope to The Grommet. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have!
-
Hi, Dylan!
Can you elaborate on replacing the batteries? Thanks! -
@James Hi James, Each flashlight uses 4 “LR44” cell batteries(1 Clever Scope used 8 batteries). These are small flat batteries that can be purchased at most stores that sell batteries. To replace old batteries in Clever Scope simply unscrew the flashlight head and the battery compartment will be revealed. You can easily pop out the old batteries and put new ones in. Thanks!
-
@Dylan
-
My question is also about batteries -- which ones does it use?
-
@Lisa The battery type is “LR44” cell batteries. 4 batteries are used in each flashlight head.
-
@Dylan Thank you -- just tried to order. They are unavailable???
-
We are sold out, Lisa. We're already in the works to re-stock it as quickly as possible!
-
Also, what type of LED bulb does it use and are they replaceable?
-
@Ruth We use 3 standard LEDs in each flashlight head. They are not replaceable.
-
@Dylan - FYI, I'd pay more for it if the bulbs were replaceable - so it won't end up in a landfill some day. Otherwise it looks like a nifty thing to have around.
-
That could perhaps be a future iteration, Emily!
-
@Mike Ditto for me on the lightbulbs. I was just about to order one for my husband, but will now wait til it's updated. Please, keep us updated on this, would you? Love this product!
-
How many and what size batteries?
-
@Teresa To replace batteries in both flashlight heads you will need 8 - LR44 cell batteries.
-
Hi, Dylan.
How does your product differ from the Bell & Howell Clever Scope? -
@Kathleen
-
It doesn't, Kathleen, it's the exact same product!
-
ARE THE BATTERIES EXPENSIVE?
-
Hi, no they are fairly inexpensive to replace.
-
HI DYLAN WHAT DO THE BATTERIES COST?
-
@Guest one can order 50 for less than $6.
-
@Kathleen where?
-
They can be purchased at just about any store that sells batteries.
-
@Mike I can sometimes geet these batteries at my local dollar store at $1 for a four pack.
-
There you go, Laura. It should be a long time before you have to replace them.
-
@Mike I haven't priced the batteries, but where do you get 50 for $6? A 4 pack for $1 is very pricy. Just curious. El Capt
-
Maybe Kathleen will chime back in, but if not, they are easy to find at most stores and should be fairly inexpensive.
-
@Mike you can buy batteries at Walgreen, Amazon, Radio Shack, Walmart... Whoever found them for 6/$1 found a great buy. At Amazon a pack of 6 is about $5. For my hearing aid, this type of battery generally runs about 8/$4 ON SALE. They are not particularly cheap.
-
Good morning Dylan,
My question is...how long is the run time on a fresh set of batteries?
Thanks! -
They can run for over 100,000 hours without running out, Gary!
-
@Mike You have just claimed that with a fresh set of batteries the lights can be turned on and will stay on for over 100,000 hours.
This sounds a bit (~1000x) longer than common sense would suggest. Even 100 hours would be rather good. Are you sure you have the correct value? -
@Dave & @ Mike - the Details page indicates the LED bulbs last 100,000 hours, but I'm guessing the batteries may need to be replaced in that time. How long do the batteries last before they need to be replaced - or how many hours should a new set of batteries last?
-
Whoops, good catch, Emily, my mistake. There is no set amount of time the batteries will last. Their lifespan will vary with how Clever Scope is used.
-
@Mike Right, a review here says this:
"The only negative issues for Clever Scope seem to be that it gets hot and the batteries quickly drain if it’s on too long. For this reason, some people have recommended against using it as a reading light. Therefore, we’re going to say Clever Scope may be a “clever” gift for the handyperson in your life, but not for the bookworm." -
Well there you go. Thanks very much for the info, Dave!
-
@Mike
-
@Dave Oops..sorry for the truncated post. I was about to say it looks like one of the slicker and more useful of the many LED flashlights on the mkt. The magnet is a small stroke of genius.
-
does it come with batteries?
-
@Steven Yes it includes a set of batteries for each flashlight head.
-
Dylan;
Hello. Would you kindly please explain where it turns off and on?? -
@Tresa There is a small button near the top of the flash light for on/off function. Each flashlight has its own on/off button.
-
Dylan, another question... Is it available is a rainbow of colors????
-
@Tresa It is only available in black right now. We hope to make more colors in the future.
-
Where is this made?
-
@BETH It says China up above. When you click on the 'Buy' button it gives you a list of features & facts.
-
Thanks, Gary!
-
wondering how many lumens each bulb produces
-
10 lumens per bulb, Robert!
-
Dear Dylan,
I would use the flexible task light while on a boat at night when night vision is important. Does the light come with red lens filters as an accessory so as not to spoil night vision ? -
Hi L W, that is a terrific use for it, but unfortunately it does not come with red lenses at the moment. Perhaps a future iteration!
-
I am also interested in the amount of lumens each bulb produces...does it spread enough light to assist elderly parents when taking a dog out in a pitch black night sky? I can see this as being a super useful hands free tool for the elderly (or anyone for that matter) when pottying a dog if it is indeed bright enough for that application.
-
Hi Melissa, each bulb produces 10 lumens. And yes, it should disperse light well enough to be used when walking the dog. If it isn't, you can always check out X-Cap!
