Reusable Extinguisher

Having this home fire extinguisher on hand makes putting out a fire easy and straightforward. The size makes it easy to store, too. Mini Firefighter is an eco-friendly extinguisher that operates like a can of hairspray. Push the nozzle and its foam expands up to 40 times its size around the fire, contracting to prevent re-ignition. Once it cools, the foam transforms into a gel you can wipe off. The nontoxic formula biodegrades, too, making it perfect for the great outdoors. Pack one on a camping trip or keep one handy in the glove box of your car or boat. Unlike traditional extinguishers, this foam smothers electrical, solid, fat, or petroleum-based fires. And you can use it more than once, too (so long as there are still contents left in the can). It’s a conveniently-sized, easy-to-use solution you can carry with you and spray without a second thought.

@Darren Hi Darren, thanks for your interest. Yes the innovate formula is mostly foam based and therefore enables it to have have a much lower freezing point to water, and other fire extinguishers.

You can leave it in your truck with no adverse impacts up to -40f. Anything beyond will simply reduce the flow until such a time the outside temperate has reached back down to -40f. The product is then usable as normal again.

@M. Rose Hi, thanks for you interest.

We are certified to the same standards of UL 711a which is their certification for standard fire extinguishers via a third party testing lab. UL does not have a specific certification for small types of fire extinguishers such as ours, unlike in Europe and Asia.

The product is rated for fire types A, B, C, K.

We meet and exceed the UL standards on all tests with the exception of adding a pressure gauge. To be fully certified we, and other small fire fighting extinguishers, would need to add a pressure gauge however this is not the direction we are looking to go down as that increases weight and complication. We hope you like this product and get to use it. We are working with UL to extend their certification for this type of product and be in line with global standards which actually have much higher set of requirements than we do here.

    Thanks

@Mark Hi Mark, thanks for you interest.

It meets all requirements for the home and we are working with the coast guard to be certified for boats. This is just a matter of paperwork as our tests already support the performance and for boating fire scenarios.

Boats typically come with bulky fire extinguishers as standard. Since our product easily fits into kitchen draws Mini Firefighter is still an excellent addition and can be reachable more quickly in times of an emergency.

@Joy Hi Joy, yes I have had my 4 year old use it to try it out. It is super easy and she loved spraying the ktichen. Since it is non-toxic and biodegradable we simply wiped down the surfaces to leave no residue.

Mini Firefighter operates just like a spray hair mousse. The nozzle is easy enough to press and hold for a young child, or an elderly person. The handy sized container makes it very easy to hold for these ages also, especially the elderly.

@Lloyd Hi, we dont recommend this product, or any small fire extinguishers for large fires such as an entire house.

However, for small cooking fires, christmas trees, electrical outlets, camp fires, etc.

Where our product is really useful is for stopping these small fires becoming a disaster. Every 30 seconds a fire doubles in size. So stopping it whilst there are a few flames is paramount. Our product is lightweight, compact and easy to store for easy access in the event of an emergency.

As always, call 911 before ever attempting to tackle any sized fire.

    Thanks

Hi David. As a fire marshal in California, I'm very interested in this product. However, I notice that several others have asked about the listing of the product, but have not received a response. This is critical for any potential sale of the product. California, as well as many other states, will not allow these types of devices for sale unless they have been certified by a nationally recognized testing lab, such as UL, NSF, etc.

I'd like to know if this is rated for a chemical fire (no one has yet said it's "rated" for anything). Specifically, I'd want to count on it to extinguish a Lithium-Polymer battery fire that can occur during charging.

    @Mark Hi Mark, this is rated for Class A, B, C, K.

However, it is not rated for Lithium batteries. These burn at an incredibly high temperature which very few fire extinguishers can extinguish. We have already developed the Lithium version and going through certification and rating. Expected Q2-3 this year.

    Thanks

I have the same questions about heat and cold that others have asked...how does it stand up in a truck during hot and cold temps. I live in Colorado and can get both extremes...sometimes in the same week.

@Mark Hi Mark, Thanks for your interest. Yes the innovate formula is mostly foam based and therefore enables it to have have a much higher and lower boiling and freezing point to water, and other fire extinguishers.

You can leave it in your truck with no adverse impacts up to +158f and down to -40f.

Anything beyond will simply reduce the flow until such a time the temperate has reached between +158f or above -40f. The product is then usable as normal again.

We are selling this product world wide, including some pretty hot counties such as Saudi Arabia, Africa, as well as now across the USA. All are reporting no issues in extreme heat of cold temperatures.

    Best regards!

I admit I don't know a lot about the regulations in various states, but why doesn't the product meet the extinguisher requirements for homes or boats?

@Mark Hi Mark, thanks for you interest.

It meets all requirements for the home and we are working with the coast guard to be certified for boats. This is just a matter of paperwork as our tests already support the performance and for boating fire scenarios.

Boats typically come with bulky fire extinguishers as standard. Since our product easily fits into kitchen draws Mini Firefighter is still an excellent addition and can be reachable more quickly in times of an emergency.

Is there a way to tell how much is left in the can?

@Betty good question! I'd like to know that too. Like the amount the firefighter uses in the clip. Does that use up the can?

    @Joy @Betty

Hi thanks for your interest. Giving the product a little shake will quickly guide how much is left remaining. Just with any spray based product the shake and weight is the best way to provide an educated approximation how much is left.

    Thanks

This looks so unbelievably user friendly! What age kid would you say can operate it?

@Joy Hi Joy, yes I have had my 4 year old use it to try it out. It is super easy and she loved spraying the ktichen. Since it is non-toxic and biodegradable we simply wiped down the surfaces to leave no residue.

Mini Firefighter operates just like a spray hair mousse. The nozzle is easy enough to press and hold for a young child, or an elderly person. The handy sized container makes it very easy to hold for these ages also, especially the elderly.

How big of a fire can your product handle?

  • David

@Lloyd Hi, we dont recommend this product, or any small fire extinguishers for large fires such as an entire house.

However, for small cooking fires, christmas trees, electrical outlets, camp fires, etc.

Where our product is really useful is for stopping these small fires becoming a disaster. Every 30 seconds a fire doubles in size. So stopping it whilst there are a few flames is paramount. Our product is lightweight, compact and easy to store for easy access in the event of an emergency.

As always, call 911 before ever attempting to tackle any sized fire.

    Thanks

Hi Albert, the price you are seeing on the Mini Firefighter site is in pounds so it is not technically a discount with the exchange rates.

    @Mark Hi Mark, this is rated for Class A, B, C, K.

However, it is not rated for Lithium batteries. These burn at an incredibly high temperature which very few fire extinguishers can extinguish. We have already developed the Lithium version and going through certification and rating. Expected Q2-3 this year.

    Thanks for your interest!

My husband and I own rental units and supply each with a fire extinguisher. I wouldn't mind switching over to mini firefighter, but I'm disappointed you don't offer a quantity discount like you do in the UK. Any chance I can be added to a mailing list and when you do start offering discounts to larger quantities be made aware? Thanks

@Sabrina Hi, thanks for the interest! Yes we have had great success with rental owners across the world replacing their existing bulky extinguishers with mini firefighter.

I'll work with the team here on opportunities for multiples and will let you know. Pls add yourself to the Grommet mailing list and ill be sure to ask the team to reach out once we have this lined up for you.

    Thanks
