Innovative Bar Accessories

Usefully Artful

Independent barware business Corkcicle was featured on The Grommet from its very first innovations. One was a reusable cork that chills wine and the Chillsner, an in-bottle beer chiller.

Founder Ben Hewitt was confused why no one had trumped the ice bucket as a wine-cooling device. He started tooling around with a way to chill the bottle from the inside, then showed the first prototype to pal (and ultimate Co-founder) Stephen Bruner. Stephen encouraged him to keep iterating; they teamed up with third Co-founder Eric
Miller, and Corkcicle came to life.

Their initial ideas were so well received that Corkcicle has continued to grow. Each year, they create more ways for drink enthusiasts to keep their favorite beverages cold. Or serve them with style. Or open them with barely any effort. Whatever your drink of choice, Corkcicle has a unique way to enjoy it even more.

Are the wedge and glass designed for other types of cocktails? Such as mixed drnks? My fav is gin and tonic. Is this a good idea for that type of drink?

@Leslie The Whiskey Wedge is great for mixed drinks including Gin and Tonics. You can also add some lime before freezing the wedge to enhance the flavor.

@Leslie we recommend all types of cocktails. You can see in the video some different ideas for different types of drinks. We market the product specifically for Whiskey enthusiasts, but ultimately it's a great way to keep whatever your favorite cocktail is really cold, not too watered down, and with a cool presentation. Enjoy!

    Does the ice ever float?

@Bob Hey Bob, thanks for the question. Eventually the ice will separate from the glass....and will float. But it takes quite a while. Some people ask if when that happens will the large ice fall and hit your face and the answer to that is no. It simply turns and floats like a normal cube. But again, it takes a good long while to get to that point. And that length of time will obviously vary based on temperature conditions.

Is the decapiator the same type bottle opener that has been around in Japan for years? Thanks, Joe

@Joe Absolutely is. We’ve essentially made a heavier duty version of the old-time Japanese classic. Ours is made with weighted stainless steel and contains a catch magnet as well to grab the caps as they come off. Hope you enjoy!
