Hi Daily Grommet. A canning jar already makes an ideal drinking and travel cup; it's easy to wash, durable, inexpensive, and can be sealed. It, however, isn't a great solution for drinking on the move and so I took my idea for a drinking lid to my friend Aaron and the Cuppow! was born. I'm here to answer your questions.
-
What a well timed Grommet for me! When I use my juicer, I use mason jars - they're the only things that fit well. Just this morning I was lamenting the terrible drinking experience. Can't wait to try these lids!
-
@Catherine That is great timing. You'll have to stop back and let us know how they work out for you. Enjoy!
-
@Catherine that's great! Just an FYI - your blender probably uses regular mouth mason jars. Cuppow was designed specifically to fit onto wide mouth mason jars! But have no fear because we are prototyping a version for people just like you that should be out before the summer! Thanks!
-
Can the small hole through which one drinks be sealed. I've been looking at the video for evidence of a flip closure for it. Thx!
-
I love it! It makes the jars into adult sippy-cups!! =)
-
Hi Joshua and Katherine and everyone else! Great video as always, I miss you all! I was waiting to see when these would be featured, they have Grommet written all over them. They certainly have the DanFranChap stamp of approval, I could make a list of 983465928 awesome things about them. Props to Joshua, Aaron and the team at Fringe!
I'm on a "zero-waste" kick lately, trying to minimize the amount of stuff I throw out. I'm no where near zero, but containers like mason jars are really helpful. They're so versatile, and the Cuppow makes it even more so.
Much love all around,
Danielle -
@Danielle Chapdelaine - Hi Danielle! We miss you here at Daily Grommet. We love that Cuppow! has the DanFranChap seal of approval, that's very meaningful. Best to you as you pursue zero waste, that's an awesome goal.
-
OMG, how genius.....I wish every success in the world to you and your company....keep the it going....
-
Now how do I get ahold of these to sell at retail in my yoga studio? Please contact me....thanks so much
-
@Laura Schroeder - We will put you in touch!
-
Two questions:
1) Are these sold in retail stores (where?)
2) This is a little off topic, but I've heard you can use a wide-mouth Mason Jar on a blender. Is that true? Are there any instructional videos online to show me how to do that. Are there any online recipes? (I could probably Google all that, but figured you folks might have the best info). Thanks, Jim -
@Jim- Yes you can use a mason jar on a blender, depends on the type of blender if you use a wide or a regular. I've used wide on my KitchenAid and it works great for smoothies, etc. Google it. Try using some of the magic bullet type of recipes, their cook book is online somewhere, google it too. You'll probably have to adjust the blending times a bit.
-
@Katie -- thanks so much for your info -- it answered my questions about blenders.
-
@Jim - Thanks Katie for chiming in with your knowledge for Jim. Our community is great! Jim, in regards to purchasing in a retail store, we would love it if you purchased them directly from us. The only way we make money to continue what we are doing is by selling the products we feature at our site.
-
Looking forward to regular size mason jar cuppow lids. How will we know when they are available?
-
@Lil - We'll be sure to add them to our assortment when they are available and let you know. Thanks!
-
Got the Ball jar.Large and small and the cuppow but the plastic is way to big.Am I suppose to cut it to fit? Help...can't wait to use it.
-
@ Sue: Sounds like the size of your jars are large & small but have "regular" mouths. The Cuppow only works on "wide" mouth mason jars. We would not suggest cutting the Cuppow to fit your jars; won't seal well. You can find the wide-mouth in mason jars of various sizes.
-
Was excited to received my three-pack of Cuppows -I ordered a couple to give away- and sad to discover they wouldn't fit any of the Mason jars I have. Clearly, I had missed mention in the promo that they are for wide-mouth jars only. Went back and checked - one visual when the camera is scanning up the jar near the beginning of the video, past the subtle "wide mouth" near the bottom of the jar; and one in print when you click through to the more detailed description of the product. Feeling foffed since I went ahead and ordered three to get the free shipping.
-
@ Jory: We're sorry you didn't realize the Cuppows were just for wide-mouth jars. The Cuppow Team is already "prototyping" for the regular mouth mason jars. YAY!
You can return within 30 days of your order. Our Customer Support Team will be in touch with you directly to arrange the return. -
Congratulations to Aaron for his unique talents and his great heart I am thrilled for you and Josh. I'll have to get mine when I return from MX. So save a few.
-
@Doe Stowell Thanks, Doe! Hopefully we will run into each other soon. There will be plenty of Cuppows to go around when you get back up north.
Aaron -
Congratulations to Aaron for his unique talents and his great heart I am thrilled for you and Josh. I'll have to get mine when I return from MX. So save a few.
-
Quick question: Does it "seal"? Will I be able to make my drink at home and take it on the go with me without it spilling? I'm thinking like the travel coffee mugs that have the little flip-down part that keeps stuff from sloshing around while you're moving from A to B.
Thanks,
Christine -
@ Christine - if you slip the metal lid underneath cuppow it seals 100%! I transport drinks all over town on my daily commute this way!
Thanks! -
LOVE - LOVE - LOVE
I ordered the set of three for the free shipping BUT needless to say I needed three. Had to give one to my best friend/travel companion or she wouldn't let me ride in her car after seeing mine. The 3rd one will go perfect for that "OVER the HILL" sippy cup present for a birthday gift! I know I'll be reordering soon. Thanks so much. -
Hello,
I LOVE this! Can you let me know if or when these are available for regular mouth jars?
Thank you -
@ Tonya: We'll be happy to.
-
Cuppow has been one of our most popular Grommet finds. We are excited to be launching their new regular sized lid at Daily Grommet today. This new size also has a Straw-Tek design which accommodates a drinking straw. Let us know what questions you have.
-
Joshua, these look great--almost ready to hit the "Buy Button". Quick question: Are mason jars ok for hot coffee?
-
@ Drew - Yes! They are built to withstand temperature extremes - boiling liquids is no problem for them.
-
@Joshua....great! Sold!
-
The rings are not always available, especially on items purchased in the store instead of being canned at home. Would it be possible to include rings with the lids or as a separate item?
-
@ William Harrington Since they are made specifically for Mason Jars, you always get the ring when you purchase the jars. But, if you want to use them with other jars, you can find the rings at any store that sells canning supplies! They can be purchased in sets of three, separate from the jars and can be found year around at a local hardware store. Just make sure that the lids fit your "generic" jar.
-
I spend much of my time in bed, due to health problems and the Cuppow lids have saved me from dripping down the front of myself. They have also saved my carpet from stains when my mason jar gets accidentally knocked over! I love them!
-
@ Karen - I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I'm glad that Cuppow lids have made drinking from your mason jars much less messy for you. Thanks for your help responding to William's question.
-
with the health risks of plastics, i've been reusing glass jars as water storage containers for a while. using them as replacement for portable beverage containers is also a great idea. but where does one find the metal lid rings that the cuppow fits into?
-
@ anon - the Cuppow fits on either wide mouth or regular mouth canning jars. If you have canning jars, but no metal rings, you should be able to buy them where canning supplies are sold.
-
am buying for myself AND my kids.... but I cannot get a shipping method to drop down for the regular size set of 3. HELP!

This is a great idea but could you 'invent' something that closes off the drink spout so that if it tips over....no spill. Looking forward!.
-
@ Rosemarie: Thank you for your suggestion. We've passed it along to the Cuppow Team. In the meantime, here's what Josh of Cuppow had shared in an earlier post how to prevent spills: "If you slip the metal lid underneath cuppow it seals 100%! I transport drinks all over town on my daily commute this way!"
-
I am trying to figure out if these will fit an 8-oz canning jar. I will have to look and see when I am shopping tomorrow for the jars whether the lids are the same size as the 16-oz jars that say "regular mouth" on the box. (I am going to use 8-oz jars to drink 8-oz of fruit and vegetable juice hourly as per the Gerson Therapy protocol, and I will juice every morning to fill 12 jars). It would be helpful if they would list the sizes of jars that the lids fit, but I guess I will have to wait to order these Cuppows until I see the jars in person at the store tomorrow and figure out if the 8-oz jar has a "regular mouth" or if it is too small. Thank you.
-
@ David: What a creative, healthy way to use the canning jars. We think the size of the lids are standard for all mason jars.
Cuppow Wide: 3 3/8" in diameter
Cuppow Regular: 2 5/8" in diameter
If you find it to be different, please share with us. -
Hello I would like to order a set of three cupow regular lids but can not add to my cart. It says they r out of order but would like to be put on a waiting list. Thank you for your help. Anna
-
@Anna Barnes: Will do. Thanks for your interest.
-
Hi, would love to order sets of 3 wide and 3 regular Cuppows! But everything is out of stock? When will this be available again? THANKS.
-
@ alyssa: Hope to have them available by 9/12. You can now click "Notify When Back in Stock" button on the Cuppow page, to let us know you're interested & we'll be sure to contact you directly when the Cuppows are in stock.
-
The Cuppows are a great idea, but are WAY TOO expensive. Nearly $25 for three *plastic* lids??? At about $10, I'd be a customer in a flash. When someone in China picks up this idea, you guys will be out of business. And that will be too bad. You can't make your fortune over-night.
-
@ RnB Kitchen
It's expensive to manufacture a product in the USA due to regulations....this appears to be a start up company....we can trust that the product is BPA as stated due to truth in advertising laws and USA guidelines. I personally try to support products developed and manufactured in the United States and I am willing to pay a bit more for these as they are adding to our economy and employing our workers...I encourage you to look at the big picture and consider your health and safety in the products your choose...there is no guarantee when you purchase products manufactured in other countries. We need to support our USA based companies. -
@ RnB Kitchen
Folks need to make the committment to buy USA, even if it does cost more. Give the guys a chance! -
Sorry for the typo...should read: BPA free
-
Its too bad there isn't a way to repurpose McDonald's lids
-
Is the Cuppow made of soft rubber like plastic? Are they thin like MCDonalds? How long will they last if you use them and wash in the dishwasher everyday?
-
@ Billie: The Cuppow is made of a durable stiff plastic that shouldn't discolor or take on any unpleasant odors. Ideally, it should be reusable indefinitely! They are dishwasher safe, but you should make sure to secure them because they are so light that they can easily get blown out of the rack.

-
Will you be providing a package of 3 with both types wide/small included? Want to purchase for a Christmas gift.
-
I like to buy American if I can. I don't mind paying more for a quality product that lasts.
-
I just ordered some of these. I'm so excited to take my coffee to work in glass instead of a plastic carrier! Daily Grommet needs to find Ball Jar cozies now to complete my set up.
-
@Tam Notarianni Good idea!
-
just to be certain I purchase the right size, what is the diameter across of your "regular" vs wide mouth lid?
-
@ MP: Dimensions:
- Wide: 3 3/8" in diameter
- Regular: 2 5/8" in diameter
You can read more info in the DETAILS tab (below video & photos).
