Universally Loved

Design With Heart is making sure the greeting card industry is keeping up with marriage equality. It’s a studio that creates cards made for celebrating any kind of relationship, bearing universal messages of love and joy. Jason Bradley-Krauss can tell you firsthand that up to this point, there haven’t been enough options for those messages. Jason is an award-winning graphic designer who married his longtime partner, Chris. The newlyweds were opening cards from well-wishers when they discovered they received six of the same card. Jason quickly got to work on creating some new ones. Today, Design With Heart creates gay marriage and other celebratory cards with a credo in mind: "love, no matter who you are or who you love." It’s reflected in beautifully bold, uncluttered graphics and messaging ranging from romantic and sincere to clever and cheeky. You’ll be able to find something tailored to what you really want to say. . . and you won’t have to worry about five other people saying the exact same thing.

@Tracy You know, with this line of products, love has been the main motivation. I've worked as a graphic designer and art director my entire career. This line of cards has allowed me to work with beautiful, modern typography and messaging that I find very inspiring.

I love the designs & sayings on these cards... but do you have any with pre-printed sayings inside as well? Most times I don't want cards that are blank inside, usually I'd prefer it say something inside as well because I can't always come up with just the right words myself, but often find those words in a card already.

But for the 12 available so far, I do truly love the designs & what many do say on the fronts! I wish I had a couple of them last year!

  • Tracy

I was thinking Brian, because the words are on the outside of the card are so touching and emotion-filled that a simple heart and signature is perfect.......just a thought!! Enjoy!!

@Brian Hey Brian! I'm glad you love the designs!

The cards are all blank inside. I think sometimes greeting cards can say too much. I tried hard to create designs and messaging that starts a conversation, but does not try to be the entire conversation.

Speak from the heart! A few of your own carefully chosen words will mean a lot to your recipient.

@Tracy Hi Tracy! You know, I think lots of folks are ready to celebrate the simple, but powerful premise: love is love. We've designed cards that really highlight that love is universal. It is what permeates all that is good and hopeful. I'm glad you like our products!

@Tracy Hi Tracy, We'd love to have our product line be considered for inclusion in a larger store. We have found there aren't many options to choose from when selecting cards for the LGBTQ community. But again, I think these Design With Heart cards tell an even bigger story -- Love is ALWAYS worth celebrating. As an Ohio-based company, we thing we've designed a line of cards that will hopefully appeal to everyone!

Indeed, if and when I get invited to my first gay wedding I'll have selection to choose from.......NOW SOMEONE GET MARRIED!!!!!

I love that you have captured so much of what people are feeling. but might not now how to say it. You are correct - LOVE is ALWAYS worth celebrating - all love!!

Nothing bad ever comes from sharing love with those folks in your life who are important and special. In an electronic age, a handwritten note today feels almost like a luxury. Think about it -- are you gong to treasure and save an email? Long live snail mail!! Best, Jason

Thanks for all these comments and questions about Jason's business. I'm Grommet CEO and I checked in behind the scenes to see what y'all are buying--basically all the cards are finding support. I do suspect that the wedding ones, being so unique, will be a year-round go-to as the happy occasions arise.

In terms of getting the attention of large retailers like Hallmark: the major retailers all watch what we launch at Grommet and they also want to know data about the response from our community. So ultimately it is really YOU who influence very directly what happens next for Design with Heart--depending on how strongly you support it (i.e. buy, share with your social media communities, comment--it all matters).

Behind the scenes and through our Grommet Wholesale business we do a LOT of matchmaking to ensure that strong Grommet Makers like Design with Heart--who want more retail distribution--have those opportunities here. Any retailers who are interested, please click through our Wholesale link below, and let us know.
