Helpful tool

6/10/2019 by Sarah

I like that it is sturdy, works well and is easy to keep the blade retracted. I don't like the textured surface of the tool, makes it a little uncomfortable to hold, but that could be handy in certain circumstances.More > < Less

One star down for packaging annoyance

1/2/2019 by David

This looks like a nice utility knife. I have not yet actually used it, but it has a nice heft and feels rugged and sturdy. But I am dinging it one star for two reasons in the hope the makers will address.

1) The paucity of instructions on inserting the blade. Yes, if you watch the video, you can see how to do it right at the end. But c’mon, how hard would it be to add that to the drawings on the packaging?

2) I realize in retail situations, theft is an issue, but those ties were way too tight! I nicked the clip with another utility knife freeing this one. How about just one around the body of the knife? Not rocket science.

very good But

10/23/2017 by mike

This is a very nice utility knife. Well made, useful, and rugged. It took me 45 minutes to figure out how to load the blade. It looks like it should quickly load, But it’s too difficult for such a product. But once you have the idea, its quick after that. But with no instructions it’s frustrating and annoying....Too many buts to recommend higher.More > < Less

It's a good knife and box cutter

9/8/2017 by Jay

It's a good knife and box cutter. I do have a little trouble keeping the blade in tight and secure. If I could keep the blade from being loose and moving around I'd rate this knife a little higher. It's also a bit priceyMore > < Less

Nice weight and good looking but still unable to use

8/23/2017 by Maryanne

So excited to receive this utility knife but my husband and I are still unable to figure out how to load the blade. It is sitting on our counter until divine intervention reveals the secret of how to load a blade inside. I am an average person with above average intelligence but I am unable to understand the instructions or figure it out. Meanwhile it is probably something really stupid that a five year old could figure out.More > < Less

About EDC Hand Tools

More Utility

The Quickdraw XLR is a rugged new take on the folding utility knife. It fits both standard and special XLR retractable blades with added handy functions, too.

Typical utility knives can be one-note. So that’s why we were drawn to this multi-use one. The durable design has quick blade access in both open and closed positions, as well as a recessed wire stripper and a blade snap-off built in.

This knife’s usefulness is enhanced by its safety measures, too. The extra-long blade completely retracts, and a locking mechanism keeps the knife from flipping open or closed when the blade is extended. Plus, you don’t need any tools to change the blade, so it’s easier to ensure you’ve always got a sharp one on-hand.

Whether you’re working on a project or carrying one on camping trips, you’ll find plenty of uses for this well-designed tool.
