Hello! Amy from The Grommet here. I'm filling in for the team at Evo and I'm ready to answer any questions you may have on the Evo Oil Sprayer. Thank you!

So what makes the Evo different from a spray bottle I can pick up for $5?

  • Jules
    7/24/2014 12:45 PM

@jesse Hey Jesse...not sure if you are able to watch the video, but it will answer that question. The Evo has a lot of additional bells and whistles.

    Hi Jesse,

Thanks for the question. This is a highly sophisticated, award winning oil sprayer that involves no propellants or chemicals. The sprayer itself is BPA, latex and DEHP free so it's just oil, pure and simple. It's a much higher quality bottle than you could find at any convenience store. Oil itself is extremely thick, so the trigger and sprayer is designed specifically for thicker oil. Most sprayers are designed for liquids like water. This means you won't have any clogging issues.

How durable is the spraying mechanism? And what about clogging, etc.?

  • Amy

    Hi Marjorie,

The Evo sprayer is designed exactly for the purpose of spraying oil and vinegars through without clogging. Most sprayers are designed for water, yet a thicker substance like oil needs to function differently and this does a great job. It even won an innovation award in 2014 for the specialized design.

@Mary Sure--that would be a great use of the EVO. It can accommodate all oils and vinegars.

Does the Olive Oil label shown on the bottle neck come with? Are other labels available?

  • Amy
    Amy – Grommet Team
    7/24/2014 12:50 PM

    Hi Misty,

3 reusable and washable label bands come with the bottle to identify what type of oil is inside. They are white and you can label them yourself to identify the oils.

What if the oil is infused with herbs which one would want to stay with the oil.

  • Amy

    7/24/2014 1:20 PM

    Hi Katherine

We didn't test this with herbs, however if they are large enough, they will stay at the bottom of the sprayer while infusing flavor.

These are all great questions. I'd like to see some answers.

  • Eleanor

I am in the same camp as Jesse - a $5 spray bottle, with an adjustable spray, does the job nicely for me so I would need to know what Evo does that my spray bottle can't do.

We have this sprayer and it is awesome! We have used other misters/sprayers in the past and nothing has compared. My husband and I both use it on a regular basis (he is a professional chef). We use it for both indoor and outdoor cooking. I especially like that you can choose to mist, spray or stream just by changing the setting. It's comfortable to hold/spray and it holds a lot of oil. Definitely get one.

This looks great. After ruining a set of Calphalon using aerosol sprays I have been looking for something just like this for my new set. I am interested in the clogging issue though, and whether there is a warranty (considering the price).

  • Sharon
    7/24/2014 1:12 PM

Sorry, I see the clogging issue was already addressed.

    Hi Sharon,

As far as warranty goes, when you purchase from The Grommet you have 30 days to return for a refund if it's defective. I should mention that as you'll see from other comments and the video, this Grommet is more expensive because of its superb quality and design that is specific to oils, vinegars and thicker substances.

  • Tamara
    7/24/2014 1:24 PM

Is there any chance that this will soon be available in a non-light-penetrating color (instead of clear) to protect the oil from light?

  • Amy
    Amy – Grommet Team
    7/24/2014 2:34 PM

    Hi Tamara,

We are looking into this question further, however we always recommend to store your oil in a cool, darker place like a cupboard, away from the stove or a window. This will ensure it's not exposed to extra light or heat, preserving the quality of the oil.

  • KL
    7/24/2014 1:39 PM

The Evo looks great - I'm very attracted to its lack of any chemicals for spraying and its fine mist option. Will it spray as well if we add herbs to the oil? Or will that cause the sprayer to clog?

  • Amy

    7/24/2014 1:56 PM

    Hi K. L.

Scan just above. Someone else had the same question. Herbs will typically sink to the bottom while infusing the flavor.

  • KL
    7/24/2014 2:26 PM

@K. L. - I'm sorry I just realized the herbs & clogging issue has been spoken to. I'm thinking I could put a small bag of herbs in the bottle to avoid the clogging issue -- a small bag such as I might use for infusing tea. MAYBE Graves Design Group could design a small bag just for this purpose & sell them in sets of 5 or 3 (since each bottle comes w/ 3 labels)? just a thought

This is a good idea, K. L. I bet this bag would be put to good use.

Does the little red funnel in the video come with purchase?

  • James
    7/24/2014 2:19 PM

@Jane According to the product description a screw-on funnel (as depicted) comes with the bottle.

I'd like to see this bottle in a 12oz size so my 83 year old mother could use it. I like the larger bottle, but it would be too cumbersome for her to hold and get the job done.

  • Jules
    7/24/2014 2:42 PM

@Roy Grommet Co-founder here: thanks for that suggestion. One of the really important things this discussion does is give our Grommet Makers ideas for future products, or concerns/suggestions for current ones. I appreciate your taking the time to share your idea for your mother. It makes good sense.

Can I refill this and let it sit on counter or do you recommend cleaning it when I have used it up?

  • Amy
    Amy – Grommet Team
    7/24/2014 4:46 PM

This is absolutely refillable and that's actually why it was created. You simply buy oil in bulk and have it at the ready. You may or may not need to give it a rinse between oil refills but it's always recommended to rinse it out every so often. The bottle is dishwasher safe but the sprayer should be hand washed.

  • Karen
    7/24/2014 7:14 PM

Can it be put in the dishwasher? How do you clean it? Thanks.

  • Amy
    Amy – Grommet Team

    Hi Karen,

The bottle is dishwasher safe and recommended for the top rack. The sprayer should be washed by hand.

  • Helen
    7/24/2014 8:34 PM

How frequently do you recommend washing the bottle? Doshwasher safe?

  • Amy
    Amy – Grommet Team
    7/24/2014 9:53 PM

    Hi Helen,

It's good to clean every few weeks depending on how often you use the bottle. Scan just above for the dishwasher question.
