Fab Habitat

Indoor Outdoor Rugs

Art Underfoot

Area rugs bring color, comfort and coziness to any space, and Fab Habitat’s indoor/outdoor rugs have all the qualities a busy household needs: bold designs, durable construction, easy maintenance, and eco-friendly manufacturing.

The vibrant rugs are woven with fibers made from recycled polypropylene plastic, and they’re
reversible so you get two looks in one rug. Inside the house, they’re ideal for high-traffic areas such as an entryway, mudroom or kitchen. Outside, an area rug can liven up a porch or patio and add definition to an ad-hoc picnic area or beach spot (a jute bag makes transporting it a cinch). Cleanup is easy -- just shake off sand or spray the rug clean with a garden hose.

Rugs can make a patio or deck feel like a room, and Fab Habitat’s contemporary designs add style without busting your budget. Plus, you can feel good about choosing Fab Habitat. The company sources its products from around the globe to support local artisans and preserve indigenous skills. It adheres to fair trade practices and is committed to reducing carbon footprint. Fab Habitat feels good underfoot, indoors and out.

    @ ridley

    Hi Ridley,

This is how to tell what your final price will be: You first choose your color in the first drop down - you'll see $48. Then, the 3rd drop down is where you choose your size. Depending on which size you choose , you'll see an added amount. The $48 + the added amount is your final price and that wil be visible in your cart. Please let me know if this makes sense or you need further clarification.

    @ kelly

    Hi Kelly,

The rug is very thin. I just measured it and it is less than 1/8th of an inch in thickness.

    @Amy Bernstein

    That's great. I needed a thin rug:)

    Hi Evelyn,

Yes, these rugs are absolutely reversible and when you turn the rug over, you'll see the pattern inversed. More versatility for one rug!

I bought three of these rugs last summer and love them!

Great outdoor rugs but kept two in my bedroom all year.

    4/9/2013 4:22 PM

I have carpet and most area rugs slip around and look messy and easy to trip over. How do you think these rugs would stay in place?

Thank you, I love India and most things they make.

    Hi Linda,

These do require a non-slip rug pad. I would not recommend they go on a carpeted floor, but rather a hard surface floor, gravel or patio. On a hard surface. a non-slip pad slightly smaller than the rug will keep it in place.

I ask because they have plastic content, how do they hold up to heat? Say if left in direct sunlight for a period of time, or for the use I was considering it for, in my basement where we run a wood stove all winter and it gets really toasty - even if the rug is 6-8 feet away it will be exposed to excessive heat. Also wondering how they hold up in high traffic areas - any thoughts on life expectancy? Love that it is recycled content. Prices are reasonable compared to other rugs I have purchased. Thin height is a plus - I'm considering for where there is a door to swing over it.

    Hi Emily,

These are highly durable and can be exposed to sunlight and heat. 6 feet from your stove should be absolutely fine. They are great for high-traffic areas. Just be mindful is you are wearing high heels. Much like a jute rug, the is weave texture that can catch on very point heels. Depending not the traffic, we suspect these will last anywhere from 3-12 years, maybe longer. That is a great point. The low-profile aspect, makes them great for a space with a door. There is a nice cotton webbing that finishes the edges of the two short sides that is slightly higher tarn the rugs overall thickness. it is about 1/4 inch on those two ends, so I suggest checking that will still work well and give you the clearance you need for that particular door.
