Go with the Flow

Built from some of the strongest, lightest, and most resilient fabrics in existence, Flowfold’s carrying gear could outlast you. As a teen, Chuck Friedman worked a summer job in Maine repairing high tech sails for the world's most elite racing boats. Industrial sewing skills he learned there, mixed with good old New England practicality, led him to construct his first wallet from scraps left on the cutting room floor. Several years and countless prototypes later, Chuck and friends bootstrapped their way into business. The name Flowfold references layers of rock that fold smoothly over time without breaking, illustrating their central design philosophy: The strength of flexibility. Before long, the team was producing all kinds of outdoor gear using their unique materials and innovative designs. The Minimalist Wallet is super simple and slender, while the Vanguard provides just a bit more room with a cash pocket, two hidden card slots and two I.D. windows. The Traveler is ideal for those who need to accommodate more paper, plastic, and international bills. For shelter in a storm, look no further than the ultralight and rugged Stormproof Tote. Flowfold’s light and durable carrying gear is the perfect choice for those who commute and venture outdoors.

    Does the Flowfold keep people from scanning your cards? Also, will you be expanding to a small "coin" purse size. I keep my important cards (license, etc.), change and bills in a coin purse that I keep in my pocket. Right now I have a metal mesh one, but the zipper is breaking and need a new one.

    Thanks,

    Vickie

    Hi Vickie,

    Aaron from The Grommet here. The wallets are made from a tough material, but they do not block RFID reading technology, unfortunately. They are made from re-purposed high-performance sail cloth, so the material is different.

    Flowfold does not currently offer a coin purse, but they are constantly developing new products and it may be something they consider in the future!

    I don't understand why there are two options on the minimalist wallet, or what each color is. Cat's Cradle, Green Room, are they even pictured there? I'm guessing the first one pictured is black pearl and the second is sandstorm?

    Hi Kimball,

    We are offering a 2 Pack for the Minimalist Wallets and I've just updated the product name to make that more clear. Apologies for that.

    You can find the colors in the dropdown. Here is the breakdown of the image, from left to right, with the associated color name: 1) Black Pearl 2) Cat's Cradle 3) Green Room 4) Sandstorm. Hope that helps and please let me know if you have any further questions!

    @Kimball

    Hi Kimball,

    Thanks for the note! If you select the minimalist wallet, you are purchasing two untis, and you can select the color for each unit.

    The colorway names are the results of naming contests we held in the past for the release of each color. Green Room is basically cyan, Cat's Cradle appears yellow from the Kevlar fibers. Black Pearl is black and Sandstorm is the white with black crosses.

    I hope this helps!

    Love this product!! These look great!! Do these wallets also have a safety feature to prevent unauthorized scanning of credit cards?

    Hi Andrea,

    Thanks for the kind words!

    At this time the wallets are not tested as RFID blocking, but they are thin, durable, and extremely lightweight!

    Interesting design you selected for a wallet since all credit cards are stacked together instead of being spread out using their own pocket which allows the wallet to fold slimmer than stacked cards would allow. I can see where your design would be beneficial for a minimalist wallet layout which is ideal when sailing or other water activities.

    I personally prefer a wallet with 2 cash pockets. This is handy when traveling to separate foreign currency or just to keep receipts separated from cash.

    Please let us know if you expand your design in the future.

    Hi Nick,

    Are the Minimalist and Billfold wallets RFID protective? Does the Minimalist Wallet also hold cash [dollar bills]? How soon do you ship from order date? I leave for Europe in 1.5 wks. Does a full Minimalist [8-10 credit cards as promoted] give "wallet butt"??

    @Leslie

    Hey Leslie,

    We haven't tested them for RFID blocking properties. We are always developing new products and it sounds like that might be a good thing to bring in!

    We could most definitely get you the order before you leave, just let us know a good address!

    The Minimalist is as slim and simple as it gets-- it even feels great in your front pocket. We like to fold bills into thirds and slide them on top of the credit cards. It's as slim and simple as it gets, so I don't think you'll be worried about "wallet butt"!

    Don't hold us to it, but we've been told Kevlar is used in bullet proof vests. Your best bet is the Cat's Cradle colorway...
