Performance Boots

For Anywear & Everywear

Sam Barstow and Jake Anderson were on the search for one shoe that could do it all—like a crossover vehicle for their feet that that could take them from day to night to hike and back again. When they couldn’t find what they were looking for, they designed it themselves.

A cross between a shoe and a boot, Forsakes are as cool for hanging out as they are comfortable to wear on a climb. Urban style meets all-weather performance
in footwear that can take you anywhere you want to go.

Forsakes conform to your feet for all-day comfort and provide waterproof protection for rugged outdoor wear.

Whatever lies ahead, Forsakes are up to the task.

    How much do these weigh?

@Jonathan they are surprisingly light. Each shoe is about 12 ounces

Are your shoes animal-free (no animal products, including glues) and cruelty-free (ingredients not tested on animals)?

@Sam while nothing in our shoes is tested on animals (besides my dog chewing through a couple pairs), they are primarily made out of premium leathers for durability and wear resistance.

@Sam Hello! I'm not sure how you would be ably to test these on animals ( lol ), but I know what was meant. While I am handicapped, I do go big game hunting (for the meat, NOT trophies ), and these look like they would fit the bill. I would like to ask what width they are, since I would be converting a men's size into a women's. Usually, the shoes are too wide when I have to do this. Wonderful concept! I agree with Sherry's thoughts...

@Kim sorry for the bother again, but wanted to ask what your return policy would be.

@Kim all of the shoes are the medium D width. As I mentioned in my comment to Sherry, they run a bit narrow at the ball of the foot when they're fresh out of the box. As you wear them they will stretch to accommodate a wider foot, but they should fit well if your feet are on the narrow side. Glad you like them!

@Kim Not a bother at all! Returns are handled through The Grommet, but we allow size exchanges and refunds for 30 days from the date of purchase. As far as warranty, we cover the shoes against all workmanship or material errors for 6 months. We stand behind our shoes so if there are any defects we'll make it right!

I love the concept! I ride on motorcycles and often on trips we want to hop off and hike or sightsee and I find that motorcycle boots are often hurt my feet when hiking very far. But these look like they would have decent riding protection but be comfortable enough to actually log some hiking in. Would these be suitable for that purpose?

Also, as a woman, I find that men's shoes are usually too wide. What width are these and do you have any plans to come out with a line specifically for the ladies?

@Sherry glad you appreciate the concept! I'm also a motorcycle rider and have been using Forsakes on rides all summer. They're perfect for what you're describing! They're all day comfortable and grip the pegs well, but also have the ankle support and traction for hiking.

As for the fit, Forsakes tend to fit a little snug in the toe box so they should work well for you. They're made with real leathers so they'll stretch to fit a wider foot they're worn too. We're working on a women's line now that will debut Fall 2014!

@Sam I'm looking forward to the women's line. I'd love to have a pair of these but the men's sizes you have available are too big for me (I normally wear a men's 3.5 or 4).

@Sam As a woman with a fairly narrow foot, I am pleasantly surprised at how well my Forsakes fit! My Forsake Hikers keep me comfortable, warm and dry.

I am a park ranger. Boots that fit well, work on various terrains and are waterproof are hard to find. Could you consider making these in all brown, or a couple of shades of brown with no colored inset on a black sole? In that they are leather, I am fairly confident I can put a shine on them for "front country" assignments.... Rangers do not have to get their boots from the official uniform supplier, but the boots do have to adhere to the official uniform specifications. Who knows, perhaps you could even be one of the boot suppliers for the NPS>

@Lani We're a new company in our first year of production so we're keeping our selection fairly limited for now, but there's always a chance for the future!

I'm curious whether these have good ankle support, in comparison to other hiking boots?

@Jessica the ankle support is comparable to a hiking boots when fully laced up. They aren't as stiff as an all leather backpacking boot, so they won't have quite that level of support. I hope that helps!

I'm a guy with an E width (10.5 L). Will Forsake boots fit me?

    Hi there,

Sam mentioned above that all the shoes are a medium D width, however we're contacting him now to see if he has any more clarity on whether these will work for you.

  • Aaron
    10/11/2013 11:20 AM

    Hi Patrick,

As Sam has noted, the boots are specifically designed for a D width, however, because they are made with natural leathers, they will stretch over time.

If you'd like to try them, you can always return them or exchange the size as Forsake allows size exchanges and refunds for 30 days from the date of purchase.
