Ripen avocados fast with an adorably small sock (yes, a sock) made just for the job. The Avocado Sock is made from pure Shetland wool that helps move along the ripening process, thanks to its natural lanolin and cozy warmth. It’s scaled to snugly fit an avocado as it gently and evenly encourages ripening in about 48 hours and makes for a super-cute addition to the kitchen counter or fruit bowl.

  • Materials: 100% Shetland wool sock, ultrasuede label and drawstring
  • Care: Hand wash in warm water with mild detergent, lay flat to dry
  • Instructions: Insert unripened avocado into the sock and place in a warm, dry place to ripen in as little as 24 hours. For best results, gently seal opening with drawstring
  • Natural lanolin and warmth of the wool ripen avocados evenly and gently, reducing bruises and damage
  • Speeds ripening time to an average of 48 hours
  • Can also be used to ripen other fruits and vegetables
  • All natural materials are ethically made
  • The Avocado Sock employs people with employment challenges who sew on the label, insert the drawstring, and attach the hang tag
  • Made in Canada
  • Dimensions: 4" x 5" x 0.5"
  • Weight: 0.13 lb.

Avocado Sock

by

Love this fun gift. Purchased originally for my son who has an avocado tree tree in his yard. I purchased three more for my friends who love avocados. I am giving them a cool tool that cuts the skin, stabs the pit and slices the avocado (also purchased one for my son.) A perfect accompaniment as a gift. Grommet should add this avocado tool to their product list.More > < Less

Mystery Gifts

by

I used these as Mystery Gifts for our adult children and spouses. We had lots of fun with them because the kids didn’t have a clue. (I covered the tags with tape.) Our daughter-in-law finally guessed correctly and won the prize.
We all love avocados so they will be put to good use. And now we have fun Christmas memories!

I several several of these for gifts and one for myself. The avocado ripens much faster than a paper bag or sitting on the counter

About The Avocado Sock

Avo-Cozy

The Avocado Sock got its start when Maker Dianne Sherwood worked as a caterer. She would stuff unripe avocados into old ski socks to help speed up the ripening process. When she learned that not many other folks knew about this trick, she created a tailored, perfectly avocado-sized version to do the job—because, really, who wants ski socks on the counter?

Dianne’s updated method is adorably small and fits snugly on an avocado. It’s made in Canada from pure Shetland wool that’s sourced from a 200-year old woolen mill in Scotland. The purity of the wool matters; its natural lanolin, not to mention the dark, cozy warmth it creates, is what helps the avocado ripen. The sock gets it ripe evenly and gently and does it in about 48 hours—and is by far the cutest thing we’ve ever seen on an avocado.
