Glass Pendant Kits

Pretty in Pendants

Afraid you aren’t crafty enough to make your own jewelry? Fear not, Annie Howes’ DIY pendant kit is the perfect way to create your own one-of-a-kind glass pendants without having to track down all the supplies.

Annie is a graphic designer and former art director with an eye for detail. After making these conversation-starting
pendants on her own, she posted a how-to on her blog. But it dawned on her that people didn’t just want the tutorial, they wanted something with all the materials and instructions included, and her business was born. The kits come with everything you need to make keepsake pendants (and rings, in some of the kits), along with the step-by-step instructions and a metal tin to keep the supplies organized. The premium papers that come with the kit are hand-selected by Annie.

These crafty kits are an ideal activity for preteen or teen girls—and they’re just as much fun for adults, so grab five friends for a jewelry making party and plan a girls’ night in.

@Annie Howes: Any specifications on usable fabric? I would love to make pendants to match my clothes. I'd like to wear a print skirt, for instance, with a solid top, and wear a pendant that matches the skirt. Anything else I need to know about using fabric instead of paper?

  • Katherine
    Katherine – Grommet Team
    4/9/2011 2:39 PM

@Jane: I have been in touch with Annie and she says:

Fabric can be used and it's a trial end error because it depends on the type of fabric. Thin fabric will absorb the glaze more readily than thick or densely woven fabric. In the end, if the results aren't satisfactory, the pendant can be soaked, the glass and fabric cleaned and dried, and a fresh attempt can be made.

A separate product in my product line is called Glamour Glue,, which is an excellent alternative to using Glamour Glaze and works really nicely with most fabrics, from cotton to silk and even leather. It's thicker than the glaze and has superior adhesion. It dries amazingly clear. It's also water resistant.

I know using fabric is a popular twist on making the pendants and the results are beautiful.

I am confused. In the photos, it looks like the glass is put into a metal setting, but in the instructions I don't see any reference to settings. Are settings for the pendants included, or is it just the glass and the bails?

  • Annie
    Annie – Special Guest
    11/10/2011 1:49 PM

@Marguerite Donnelly: There are different kits with different components to them. The two kits with the word "Bezel" in the title contain the settings that you put the glass into. The other glass kits do not, but rather have the bails for stringing a chain through.

  • Katherine
    Katherine – Grommet Team
    11/10/2011 1:50 PM

@Marguerite Donnelly: This is the second time that we are featuring Annie Howes' pendants. The first time, we only featured the glass pendants (no metal setting). This time we are featuring both. The ones that say 'Glass and Bezel' have the metal setting (bezel) included, the others don't.

Here are some additional pictures of what a finished pendant will look like:

The Petite Party Pack has a variety of sizes and shapes, as does the Resin Kit.

The Glass Pendant Kits without the bezel settings measure 7/8" square.

The Glass & Bezel kit with oval glass measure 22mm x 30mm and 30mm x 40mm, and the glass and bezel kit makes 1" square and circle pendants.

These measurements are all the sizes of the glass.

I am very much impressed with these kits. I need some more information on the same. What does the petite party pack include ? is it all inclusive of what other kits have or something special for party etc ?

What is resin pendant kit ? Need some details. Does all of the kits include the rings or only some ? which are they ?

And last but not the least, which is a good kit to give as a gift for an adult ?

Please clarify so that I will be able to place the right order accordingly.

    Thank you in advance
