Hello everyone! I'm proud to introduce meori to The Grommet. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have!

    Hi Nedra

these boxes look awesome, organization and storage is always an issue!!(home, car,RV) any plans to offer bulk cost?? I need 6 to start with and could be more as I progress through my organization.

@Linda we have something similar to the large foldable storage box, but we only paid $15 at a local Aldi store in SL. I like the foldable storage box with handle, but not at $40. All the stores around here give us plastic bags for free. I wouldn't mind having the box at a more reasonable price and save the stores the cost of the plastic bags. I'm retired and on a fixed income, so these prices are way out of my ballpark.

@Mike @Linda - Yes, I was going to suggest that, we would LOVE to work with the team to have a bulk offering. Once you try one of these boxes, you'll find a zillion uses and they become essential.

@Leon, While I love that you're considering the cost of plastic bags to the stores, maybe whom we really should be considering when thinking of giving up plastic bags, is our planet. It takes forever for them to break down, and in the mean time, so much sealife is getting trapped in huge masses of plastic out in our oceans.

I agree with Linda; a "package" plan would be nice to have. I could use 4 myself, but $140/160 is awfully steep.

@Loyd Hi Loyd, yes as Mike and I indicate above, we'd love to work on this.

Hi. The box with a handle looks perfect for groceries! Is it possible to wash the fabric in a washing machine? Just concerned about residual pesticides, spills, and leaks, etc. from normal grocery shopping. Thanks!

Hi. @Kara - the boxes can be spot cleaned but should NOT be run through the washing machine. You would want to choose the Marine Blue to hide any blemishes. But having said that, mine gets a lot of use and they hold up.

And @Kara you are right about it being perfect for groceries. I take mine to the store for quick trips and get lots of comments on it - people are always asking about it. Hope you'll try it!

These boxes look great. Do they or could they have Velcro on the bottom so they will stay put on a carpeted car floor? If so, I'll buy 4 large.

@Tony They do not have Velcro but the way they are constructed, there is a bit of an edge on either end that would grip the carpet of a flat car surface if there was weight in the boxes. I have never had a problem with mine moving around in the car - in fact other customers tell us that they buy them to contain other things from moving around. That could be a DIY project however to add Velcro. And I'll pass your comments along to product development! Thanks for the suggestion!

  • Joseph

    Do they stack?

  • Nedra
    Nedra – Special Guest
    8/10/2017 11:30 AM

@Joseph Thanks for that question. They are not designed or intended to stack one on top of the other the way milk cartons do.

The real selling point of meori is in how the boxes stow flat and compact in small spaces (12.5 in x 10.5 in) to be at the ready whenever you need them. I keep mine in the car and around the house as the uses are endless.

Now having said that, in a pinch, I do stack mine as long as I am not carrying too much weight as I don't want the sides to loose their form.

Hope that helps. What are you thinking of using them for? If I know that, perhaps I can be more specific.

@jim Hi Jim. Our customers appreciate our clever design, high-grade materials, and high-quality construction with reinforced, cushioned handles - which all together make meori a product that has staying power.

  • Jane

Although they look like they would be very convenient I would never in a million years pay anywhere near $40 for a grocery bag. That's ridiculous.

@Jane As Nedra mentioned above, this is far more than a grocery bag! Customers for meori are paying for the clever design and sturdy construction, which we think is worth every penny.

We hope you reconsider and decide to purchase

@Mike @Jane Thanks Mike. We also know, from experience, that shopping with a box changes the grocery trip.

Boxes are easier to pack and unpack - checkers love them - and nothing rolls out of plastic bags in the back of your trunk.

so ok, kind of pricy but if they'll hold up then it's another cool grommet. what's inside the panels to keep their shape, plastic/cardboard/or...? thanks team.

@christopher Hi! There is super-duper (technical term) heavy cardboard in the sides that holds up to repeated uses. I have had mine in heavy rotation for quite awhile and still going strong.

By the way, I wanted to mention that a great use for the large size meori is taking it to warehouse stores - eliminates the dilemma of what to do with all the cardboard I come home from Costco with.

    8/10/2017 12:24 PM

@Nedra well, my planned use was using it for my E-bike, strapping it down on the bike rack. it would be PERFECT, but I'm sure at some point it's going to get wet from occasional rain... think it will hold up? thank you.

@christopher Great usage! We actually have a bike-specific model in development as this is a primary mode of transport in Europe (where out boxes originate).

In the meantime, your question about rain: I have gotten mine wet and it dries and holds up but doing so frequently is not going to help the longevity.

We do have an Outdoor model The Grommet can consider carrying (hint @Mike). This version has polypropylene in the sides and is meant to be weatherproof.

If you run the removable strap the other way, will it keep the empty medium box closed if you are carrying the box by it's built in handles? Also, how about a special price for a medium + large tote order?

  • Nedra

    8/10/2017 12:18 PM

@Peggy Thanks for letting me point out another feature! See the grey band that is towards the top along the front of the box? That is elastic and it can be used to keep the closed box from opening. I'm not sure that answers your question though?

I would be happy to work with The Grommet team to come up with a special price for both sometime soon. I defer to the team though on how quickly we could do that.

  • Brad
    8/10/2017 12:19 PM

I agree with those who feel the price is steep. For groceries, there're sturdy tarp material bags that fold like a paper bag and are given out for free if you're ok with the logo. I'm not sure what I'm missing.

@Brad Thanks, Brad. I appreciate your thoughts. We are not going to be for everyone but there are others for whom meori makes a lot of sense - we have different features that resonate.
