@Amy Hi Ben, good question! The output is up to 2.4 amps per port/socket, depending on what the device requires, with a max total current rating of 8.8 amps.

  • Jonathan
    Jonathan
    10/23/2014 12:38 PM

@Rock, though devices may only require 1A or less for charging, they will accept 2+ amps if pushed by a high amp charger (in the case of most smart phones). I want to push the most amps. Will this automatically push higher amperage to all my devices, including the phones, or will it only push the minimum required? If it begins with the higher load output at 2.2 or 2.4, does it do this for each device until it hits 8.8 amps, then begins to reduce and share the max? This is critical to the purchase of this for my traveling needs. Thank you.

  • Rock
    Rock – Special Guest
    10/23/2014 12:50 PM

@Jonathan It will always push the maximum required for each connected device, up to the 8.8 amps / 48 watts, as you have stated. If you are traveling internationally, you will need the International Travel Kit.

@Guest It will charge phones with a USB 3.0 cable and we also included in the retail package a Micro to USB Charge Cable to cover a small amount of phones that would not charge at the rate that was satisfactory to us. Is this dual voltage, i.e. 110-120/240 W, so that all you need is the adapter plugs for international travel? I see there is a different adapter sold with the international kit, labeled Ac to DC--? Most individual and dual-USB port chargers are dual voltage these days; at least mine are. I only need the right prong adapters, not a voltage converter.

  • Rock

  • Rock
    Rock – Special Guest
    10/23/2014 2:19 PM

@Steven The iDsonix product is simply a USB hub used for transferring data, not a multi-charger.

  • Steven
    Steven
    10/23/2014 2:32 PM

@Rock I believe in my set-up it does both, at least with iPhones.

  • Rock
    Rock – Special Guest
    10/23/2014 5:26 PM

@Steven - To my knowledge the iDsonix only supports (1) USB charging port capable of delivering 2 amps. The other 3.0 USB ports will only supply 0.9 amps. Our ChargeHub™ has (7) dedicated ports for charging and the ability to adjust amperage based on the needs of the connected device.

  • Jay
    Jay
    10/23/2014 1:24 PM

Make sure you're being accurate about the amperage. The MAX is 8.8 There are 8 ports. If you have 5 iphones/ipads each requiring 2A it will not put out 2 for each port. So, technically you can have up to 4 devices requiring 2A that that will eat up the max draw of that device.

    Am I right @Rock / @Amy?

  • Rock
    Rock – Special Guest
    10/23/2014 2:26 PM

@Jay You are correct that the max is 8.8 amps between the 7 USB ports, not 8. Typically, most phones, including iPhones, will draw about 1 amp max at a lower battery percentage and demand less as the phone is charged-up. Tablets on the other hand, will draw from 1.7 up to 2 amps (iPad Air spec'd 2.4, but still only draws 2 amps at low battery charge). That same concept goes for the tablets, as they are charged-up, they draw less amperage. With that in mind, you can charge multiple combinations of 7 devices at once, without overdrawing the amps on the ChargeHub.

  • Rock

    10/23/2014 2:28 PM

@Rock To further my answer, the ChargeHub will let you know when it's over-drawn on amperage by the blue LED light blinking, so that you could simply disconnect a device and plug it in shortly after other connected devices are charged-up more, requiring less from the ChargeHub.

@Sheri Our ChargeHub is not particularly MFi or "Made of iPhone" certified, however, that was purposeful in our design, as we wanted to create a truly universal charging station that can charge Apple and Android devices alike (as well virtually anything USB-chargable), without any decrease in charging capability. In conclusion, you will not see the "device not supported message while using our ChargeHub.

@Rock So if I have lots of adapter plugs, I don't need anything else, right? THis makes a great gift for multi-device households.

@Marlene - are you talking about adapters that would plug into the wall adapter that comes with the ChargeHub™?

How is this any different than say an iDsonix® Port Super Speed USB 3.0 (iDU3-H702): Hub, which is priced at about 1/3rd the cost?

@Steven The iDsonix product is simply a USB hub used for transferring data, not a multi-charger.

@Rock I believe in my set-up it does both, at least with iPhones.

  • Rock

@Rock To further my answer, the ChargeHub will let you know when it's over-drawn on amperage by the blue LED light blinking, so that you could simply disconnect a device and plug it in shortly after other connected devices are charged-up more, requiring less from the ChargeHub.

Like that it appears both Apple and PC/Android products can use this. Would you share where the product is made? US, China, elsewhere?

    Hi Frieda,

The ChargeHub can charge multiple devices at the same time as long as they have a traditional USB cable.

@nola - although we have not officially tested a Kindle HD 8.9, but based on the charging specifications, the ChargeHub™ should not have any issue charging that device as well a Droid Razor.

Is this "Made for iPhone" certified? Don't want to get the "device not supported" message!

  • Rock
    Rock – Special Guest
    10/24/2014 8:57 AM

@Sheri Our ChargeHub is not particularly MFi or "Made of iPhone" certified, however, that was purposeful in our design, as we wanted to create a truly universal charging station that can charge Apple and Android devices alike (as well virtually anything USB-chargable), without any decrease in charging capability. In conclusion, you will not see the "device not supported message while using our ChargeHub.
