Turkish Woven Country Throw

Luxury Peshtemals

There is a reason TAMA Turkish blanket throws are so luxurious: history. Turkey has been known for its beautiful textiles—including peshtemals, a flat-woven textile with a hand-tied fringe—since the 16th century.

Today, TAMA Founder iLke Tosun and her partner Nevzat Pekcan make their peshtemal throws in the Denizli Province.
There, Turkish weavers use techniques that date back to the Ottoman Empire, right down to tying the tassels by hand.

TAMA peshtemals are made of 100% Aegean cotton, with a long fiber that is stronger and more durable than other cottons. It also grows softer and more plush with use, a characteristic that gives Turkish towels and other textiles their high quality.

Each of these throws is extra-large and can even be used as a blanket or coverlet on beds from twin to queen size. Cool and comfortable, TAMA peshtemals are the best of old world craftsmanship and new world practicality.

    Hello everyone! I'm proud to introduce TAMA throws to The Grommet. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have!

    These are beautiful, and I am encouraged that they soften with use. The green displayed on the chair is softer and lighter in color than the green in your color chart. I am interested in the muted green color as displayed on the chair in your video. Is there color variation I could request, or do they tend to fade a bit with use?

    Hi Ruth, thank you very much for you interest! In both images, the product is same, however, I think, with the light outside, the color looks softer in image with the chair.

    After it is washed, there will be a change definitely but most of the time, it is not visible to most eyes. The yarn used in these throws is washed during the dyeing process. The washing temperature is high enough to eliminate the later fading (it is faded in the dyeing process basically).

    In time, there will be a change but not right in the first wash...

    @Ruth Hi Ruth,

    Thanks for your question. The green is actually more vibrant than the the green color you are seeing on the chair. The light is making it look more muted. All of the blanket colors are beautiful and I think you would be pleased with how soft and well made the TAMA blankets are. Marcia - The Grommet

    Hi Cindy, thank you very much for your question. We just recommend it to make them last longer, otherwise, as you mentioned, they are 100% cotton and they are tumble dry safe on low heat.

    Can the fringe be easily removed without damaging the blanket?

    Hi Sandra, you can try, but removing the fringe could cause some problems and would likely void the return policy.
