Mind Games

Spatial thinking and tactical decision-making are put to the test in board games from Gigamic. The Gires brothers (Jean-Christoph on left & Stephane) have been making games since the 1970s, and they have stayed true to the original Gigamic mission of creating games and puzzles that are engaging and thought provoking, not mindless entertainment.

Quarto Classic is one of Gigamic’s most celebrated and award-winning games. The 16-piece game challenges players to line up four pieces that share the same attribute. But there’s
a twist -- your Quarto opponent chooses which piece you're going to play.

Katamino, which can be played alone or with an opponent, helps build geometry skills as players twist, flip and turn different pieces to figure out how they fit into the puzzle area. In Quoridor Classic, you try try to move your pawn across the board, erecting fences along the way to slow your opponent's advance.

The Gigamic brothers are choosy about the materials they use, selecting tactile, natural components for their game pieces. You can feel the quality when you pick up the pieces. When you see how much fun the Gigamic games are, you know these heirloom-quality toys will be enjoyed for generations. They challenge players to exercise their brains, while keeping the pace fast and fun.

Hello to all Daily Grommet Friends! I have played these great games thousands of times and I never tire of the challenge. The strategy is pure, the instructions are simple and the games are easy to learn. These are some of the greatest award winning games in the world and you can't play them if you don't think. My thanks to the Daily Grommet for recognizing great teaching tools. I will be happy to answer your questions.

I like the sound of these games. I especially like that they are made of wood and not plastic. It also mentions in the video that they are well made, of "heirloom" quality. All the youngest of my husband's family are now young adults. Considering purchasing one to keep them entertained (and hopefully off their cell phones) when we do holiday meals for his family. Where are the games produced?

@Emily: All games are manufactured in China to Gigamic specifications. The wood comes from Austria or Germany

and is shipped to China for processing.
