Great Lakes Fibers

Relax & Revive

Great Lakes Fibers Maker Amy Lowery isn’t just a fan of alpacas, she’s all about them and their versatile fleece. Amy has raised these fluffy animals for over 16 years and has explored many ways to use the discarded fleece, like making dryer sheets with the fibers or using them in the car as a deodorizer. That’s when she had her aromatherapy-in-a-jar aha moment. The fleece comes from Amy’s herd in Ohio as well as from alpacas at other local farms. She hand dyes the fibers and applies the essential oils. The fleece won’t absorb the oils, which helps to keep the scents potent. Use a jar for an easy in-the-moment, breathe-deep break or to naturally freshen up a small space.

Quick Questions

Do I take the fiber out of the jar to use the product?

No, the alpaca fiber is not meant to be handled. The fiber should remain in the jar because touching the fibers will cause essential oils to be transferred to your hand. Simply open the lid to enjoy the aromatherapy and close when done to preserve the scent.

How long does the scent last?

The essential oils should maintain their scent for about six months. If you are leaving the jar open to freshen a small room it will last roughly one week. Once the scent has subsided you can add your own essential oils to reuse, if desired.
